a place for zinesters - writers and readers
Per Things You Say Distro's Facebook:
"Things You Say will be closed for some time. The post office where I ship from was flooded out and damaged. My whole town is either under water or in a blackout. I have no power or Internet so I can't shut down the website. Please post this where you can (zine websites/message boards) for me? I just don't want people ordering when I can't fulfill their orders. Thanks!"

I am a fifty-eight year old lady. I am a mother of five and I have eight grandchildren. Through my lifetime I have tried my hand at book publishing and screenplay writing, but I find myself enjoying my new hobby now that the kids are grown of making videos to show work that I have done and extend my obsession with photography in video form.
I first started with a youtube channel under Dorisanne13. On top of doing short commercial videos about my screenplays I have…

My War with NPR
I have complained before about NPR censoring most every post I was making on their website. Well seems it was a problem that was not limited to me, but pretty widespread.
NPR has gotten the message and changed it’s entire process of accepting comments. Now Disqus, ” a global comment system that improves discussion on websites and connects conversations across the web” has taken over. They, unlike NPR have yet to censor any comment I’ve made. For example today I…Continue

Paul Adair is a local expert on all things connected to film. I asked him about my theater and he told me that, When The Inwood, opened, it was owned by Interstate, a partner of Paramount. So I did a net search and made a blog post on some background to the Inwood. That post is at:
You'll get three things, a short short history of the Inwood,…Continue

Poems written in October 2012
Comments welcome. Sort of a theme in these 3.
[poem notes in brackets like this]
1. (Based on a Nick Virgilio Haiku)
Late in the evening
the church is empty
except for a firefly
a little night light.
"How heavy my wings are
when they're weighed down with tears!"
said the Angel,
by the sea.
3. (for my Blue Mountain Collection of Poems)

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
October ends up at Halloween. So let's go there. Pretend I am in a bookstore and there on a bust of Pallas, is not one but many copies of the Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. Looks like I've got a big group of Ravens. So what is the term that is used for a group of Ravens. Here are 2 clues - a group of rhinos is called a crash, and a group of ferrets is called a business.
A group of ravens is called an UNKINDNESS…

So as I continue to write and re-write my comic script for Pimpkillah Volume 2, I need to keep my creativity sharp and fresh by starting a new project! I'm also ADHD and need to have a million things to work on in order to be satiated. I have a bout a 101 ideas for mini comics and would love to collaborate with someone in the Los Angeles area. I would write the story and I need an awesome artist with his or her own style.
I've really been trying to create an event for artists…Continue

I recently received and read Pimpkillah: The Protector (An Introduction to Pimpkillah) , a zine/story written by Sarah Bitely and illustrated by Christina Mirani. This story is about (and narrated by) lead character Sloane Stone who helps and protects people at an AIDS clinic and in the surrounding lands of Africa.
And then I re-read it. And then I re-read it again.
