.: City Birds

Eyeformation {printed in Art Bureau 16}

Eyeformation's latest project is CITY BIRDS—a flock of colorful birds inhabiting an installation/mural created by the artist and other participants.

The project began in the summer of 2007, when the first CITY BIRD illustrations found their way on skateboard decks designed by the artist. Soon after, the birds were being constructed from recycled and found wood as two standard shapes—one with the wings…

I love it when a plan comes together

So earlier this year, the gals who started the Rock N Roll Camp in Portland put out a book called Rock N Roll Camp For Girls: How to Start a Band, Write Songs, Record an Album, and Rock Out!! They're doing a book tour, and today we finalized my library as being a stop on the tour! My town hosts the Southern Girls Rock N Roll Camp; the organization who runs SGRRC has helped with some of the zine workshops I've done at my library (where I… Continue

Zines I picked up in Philly

I traded for a lot of zines at the Philly Zine Fest (and in a few cases, bought them, I admit). I wanted to make a list of what I came home with, and here it is!

If any of these sound interesting to you, let me know and I'll send you contact info for the zinesters. Of course a lot of them are already here on We Make Zines.

Because I am a crafty mama~

I was featured in a blog about being crafy and my etsy shop was involved, yay!

I was really thrilled to be asked by Shai (Shai's Creations) to do an interview for her because she wanted to feature me and my crafty items in her blogger. Shai has featured wonderful crafters on her blog so it was an honor.

I love being a part of an awesome creative community where people share and help each other. It makes life better when we are helping each other take a step forward instead… Continue

I have published a zine entitled Divine Exploitation since 1988. It mainly covers the entertainment genre and I am getting ready to do a series of one shots that focus on micro budget film makers. The first issue will deal with Mark Baranowski and his wife Teresa who goes by the name Ryli Morgan.

Food Zine / Other Thoughts

First off, can I just say I am so friggin happy I finally got this thing to work? Because for about a month I got to read on LJ and myspace from everyone else how awesome We Make Zines is, and yet it wouldn't let me sign up/sign in. But yay! I'm finally here and lovin it!

Second, I'm slowly working on a food zine called "My Little Cookbook." Or at least I think thats gonna be the title. It was originally gonna be a food issue of my zine "Motor City Kitty" but then I decided I might… Continue

Distraction in Wonderland #1

My first zine in 5 years is hot off the press.

It has pieces on being being raised by my grandparents, getting naked in Tokyo, mental institutions, being a freak magnet, and my clumsiness.

I used to write Smitten Kitten, Muppet in Training and I ran Smitten Kitten Zine Distro.

Get your hot little mitts on one for the measly cost of $2 or a trade sent to: Kristy/ PO Box 964/ North Melbourne/ VIC 3051/ AUSTRALIA

i had a blast hanging with Katie and we along with… Continue

Tazewell's Favorite Eccentric zines

Tazewell's Favorite Eccentric 8 addresses issues of friendship and trying to maintain hostile feelings about other women while still being a strong feminist. Queer rage, daddy issues, lesbian desire, and the untimely death of a friend.

Excerpt: I just wish it were clear. I wish that I knew what happened. I wish that he didn't die alone and sad. I wish that he'd asked for help. Or that one of us had tried harder because there's nothing for it now.

I cannot imagine being so… Continue

Philly Zine Fest

I just returned from the successful Philly Zine Fest on Oct. 5 at the Rotunda in University City. Thank you to the organizers for putting on this event and to being so welcoming to Brooklyn zinesters Brandi Lee and redguard, who still got a table even though we were driving around lost in Philadelphia for an hour.

The turnout was good, the space was wonderful and child-friendly, I made a lot of great trades and met some terrific zinesters. The highlight for me was Sarah Arr!'s… Continue
