Total Liberty is now on-line!

I just received the Autumn/Winter 2008 issue of Total Liberty: A Journal of Evolutionary Anarchism edited by Jonathan Simcock. In the editorial Jonathan mentions his new website:

"The website address is http://anarchistvoices.wetpaint.com/ and it features over 15 different videos. There are also photographs, a Links page and a page where there are 17 back issues of Total Liberty as pdf files available for free download and an (as yet) unused discussion forum.

"The videos… Continue

Book List '08

So, I've put this everywhere else (partially because I'm excited about having read so much, partly to gather suggestions). Just in case you haven't seen it, and want to suggest a book. I won't promise to read it, but I'll at least look at the description on amazon and consider it. Not to sound like a jerk ... but you know. Not everyone has the same interests.

These are the books I have read so far this year.

1) A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave… Continue

Tales of Inertia #2 finally out

After only about a 6 month delay, I finally finished Tales of Inertia #2. It contains a 24 hour comic I did in April 2008, about a bunch of australopithecus afarensises 3 million years ago, and also Moonshine, the sequel to Seaside Retreat, from issue 1.

excerpt from "Going Postal!" #1

How I Stumbled Into The World of Independent Publishing: in memory of Irving Stettner by Kris Mininger

It was the summer of 1997. I was in New York City for a few days visiting friends before catching a flight to Greece. On the morning of the day of my flight I walked to the great Strand Book Store at 12th and Broadway to look for something to read during the “jump over the puddle”. I was 22 years old and was at the height of my Henry Miller & Charles Bukowski obsession.… Continue

.: 1000 Journals Project and Film

Q&A with Someguy from 1000 Journals Project {printed in Art Bureau 15}

Your website is very thorough in explaining the 1000J Project, but could you give a very brief synopsis about it?

The 1000 Journals Project is a worldwide collaborative art experiment. One thousand journals were sent out into the world and those who find them add something—writing, artwork, photographs, whatever they…

New Version of Book Art- MINI!

Having done a lot of research into the world of zines, and the unfortunate discovery that printing an A5 full colour zine is not at all cheap, I've spent today mucking about with layout and print settings and have finally managed to squidge Book Art into a much smaller, envelope friendly size. Much cheaper to print, easier to post, and the pictures still look lovely.

Feel so much better ;)

Back from traveling, Stolen Sharpie Revolution and a zine fest in Utah...

So, My sister and I just spent 4 days driving my grandmother's car with a trailer full of stuff back from central Texas (Temple, TX to be exact) We barely missed a snowstorm in Wyoming and Utah and dodged the pelting rains that it turned into once it hit Kansas. Stopped off to eat vegan food at Watercourse in Denver, stayed with our friend James in SLC and had lunch at Sage's and diner at the Vertical diner. Left Salt Lake City at 6Am yesterday, picked up some hitchhiking punks in Hermiston,… Continue

A zine publisher/mail artist´s worst nightmare: Postman hoards 20,000 letters!!!

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - A Scottish postman working in Germany hoarded at least 20,000 letters at home because he felt his work was too taxing, police said on Tuesday.

The postman in Frankfurt was caught when a neighbor saw him tipping a mail delivery into a rubbish bin and alerted police.

"It's worth mentioning the 23-year-old didn't deliver mail addressed to himself either," local police said in a statement.

Investigating officers found rubbish bags and boxes full of letters and… Continue

Eating Ass and other previously published articles

Hey all,

here are some stories & articles from issues 1-7. In no particular order.

Is it possible that all these years I just hadn’t found the perfect ass to ream? Oh, hello there. You’ve interrupted my thought process. Never mind, it wasn’t important. I’m kidding. It’s very, very important & I suggest that you continue reading because it may or may not change your life & your eating habits.

Many moons ago, in a quiet nook in the far… Continue

Life Without Internet

Well, it seems my life has changed in many ways in the last ho hum... week and a half. Not too long ago my boyfriend kicked my ass to the curb and this provided the catalyst for a world of physical change (and emotional growth).

I left the tiny apartment we shared last week and moved into an even smaller sunroom of a bedroom. I purged my belongings into this small space and started negotiating my way around housemates again. We're designing a vegie patch in the backyard for… Continue

From The Trenches

Since I just got done with a mini comic for my youngest daughetr, Dandelion, I decided to do one for my older daughter, Delia. Of course they are night and day. Where Dandy is a blonde, princess with a penchant for 80's slasher flicks, Delia is a darker, emo with a love for the tv show Monk and My Chemical Romance. I have no idea where I'm going to go with this one. My one shot of Mark and Teresa Baranowski is coming along fine. Since I have no Prison… Continue
