How do I love zines? Let me count the ways.
I love the way you come from people who are earnest and sincere in their interests, hobbies, rants and raves. I love the way you speak to me with a voice untainted by large corporations and media outlets. I love the way you sniggle into my heart, limping in on a postage stamp that costs more and more until you fear you cannot eek out another. (It only makes you more precious.)
I love the way you tell me what you think, what you…

Hi, all. I'm Kelsey, and I live in Olympia. I've made a few zines in my life, and made even more artists' books. Mostly, though, I'm just a big fan of zines and a zine librarian. I created a zine collection for my library (Olympia Timberland Library) this year. We have over 200 zines in the collection so far, and it's growing slowly as time goes on. Anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself and thank Krissy for putting this forum together. I'll be looking to buy new zines for the library in our…

I'm thinking about duality as a theme -- things like doppelgangers, mirrors, shadows, doubles, vampires casting no reflection, twins, split or multiple personalities, bipolarism, bisexuality, gender swapping and gender play, immigrants living in a foreign culture without losing their identities, interracial identity, etc. But don't feel bound by this if you want to contribute ... there are no hard and fast rules.
I'm proud to announce some early contributors to the second issue. AC…

I describe my regular zine as "a light-hearted food/perzine," but for a while know I have been thinking about writing a regular, straight-up perzine for a while now, but I'm just not sure how I feel about it. I've written lots of little stories and vingettes, and I think they're pretty interesting, but I can't seem to decide whether or not I want to publish them. I've been reading alot of perzines lately really enjoying them but I'm not sure if writing a perzine is really ME. I guess I can…

That's the title anyway:
Sometimes Things Get Confusing When You're Mentally Ill.
It's a brief comix history of my struggles with depression, PTSD, abuse, marriage and fatherhood, recovery and struggling to reclaim a sense of self. It's cartoony but not light hearted. There is lots of potentially triggering stuff here. Consider yourself warned.
It's yours for a buck, a couple of stamps or a trade. If you would like a copy, you can order it from my etsy store or…

Okay, I will be taking preorders for the first issue of Darling Disasters! Each copy will be $1. Unfortunately, right now I do not have a PayPal account as I had to close the one I had down because of moving and that bank not being available here and not having a bank account to link it to just yet.
Anyway.
It's 20 pages, b&w, quarter-sized. Darling Disasters is a per-zine/lit-zine. This issue is basically the "pilot" issue. It's the very first one and it kind of…

Hello everyone! I'm Karen. I just turned 30 and I live in St Paul, Minnesota.
I listed all my old zines on my new page, but the one I probably re-printed the most in recent years was
A Tenderness So Painful I Thought my Heart Would Burst. Life has changed a whole dang lot since I wrote that a in 2005 so it's not in print any more. My husband and I now have a 6 month old baby boy and I'm really curious about how my life as a "zinester" will evolve now that I have a child and am…
