I Remember Redpaper

I was reading a fellow poster's blog on We Make Zines, and something about its tone made me remember the now long defunct website Redpaper (redpaper.com). It's been a few years since the site closed its cyber-doors, but from time to time I still find myself lamenting its passing; I miss the site, and I miss the people I once interacted with there.

Surely someone else on WMZ also used Redpaper when it was around. For those who've… Continue

New issue: Pieces #4: on lucid dreaming

Issue 4 of Pieces: on lucid dreaming is now available!

This issue is a little different from past issues in that it is not a 100% perzine. The first half is mostly information on lucid dreaming and techniques I use, with a few stories on how I'm lucid dreaming to conquer anxiety, what I get out of dreaming, my thoughts on out of body experiences, along with other personal tidbits.

The second half is a dream journal I've been keeping to… Continue

Perfect Day Zine: Call for Submissions!

Yesterday I had a new idea for a new zine. It will be about 'My Perfect Day'. I'm intending to collect from about 36 people the world over, describing their perfect day. If you'd like to be part of this zine project, kindly follow instructions below.

A zine on 'My Perfect Day'.

What would happen on your perfect day? What time would you wake up, what would you eat, who would you meet? What would you do, what would you… Continue

The more I delve into this project the more I realize I am very confused by it. I don't understand what I'm doing half the time. I plan to write a few stories and I have a few topics and section ideas lined up- the only thing I have to do is figure out how to put it together. I know now why Zine making is tought in college courses and in middle schools. Its hard. If anyone could shed light on my overwhelming situation I'll send you free copies of the first issue. Just leave an… Continue

Dream of the Fisherman's Wifey (Excerpt)

Dream of the Fisherman's Wifey

By St. Paco

Whenever I run across Hokusai's "Tako to ama" (Octopus and Shell-diver), it makes me think of Erika. Sometimes I even still find myself wondering what she knew about the erotic illustration she once had plastered in the background of her Myspace page.

Whether she actually knew anything about the image or not, in my book she had won… Continue

Advice on scanner/printers wanted!

Hey All

My inkjet Lexmark x75 printer, 10 years old, is proving pretty rubbish for getting decent quality prints for my zines. I definitely need to upgrade :+))

Can people offer recommendations pls? I am looking for a good scanner/bw/colour printer which will give good results and is not too hungry on the old ink cartridges!

Many thanks

WMZ weekly art contest for fun

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:

James Joyce was nearly blind during his final years. So he had to dictate part of his last novel, "Finnegan's Wake" to a friend. The friend turned out to be one of the most celebrated writers of the century. Name the writer that helped Joyce with his final novel.

Samuel Beckett, Irish avant-garde writer, dramatist, poet, and one of the key writers in…
