Tins!

Dear Readers,

Somewhere along the line, I began to collect tins- decorative tins, English tins, collectible tins, all kinds of tins. Living in an efficiency apartment, a small efficiency, they began to take up room, then more room, then THE room.

Lately I've been able to go through them, save favorites and put aside those I could part with. Turned out there were about 2-3 hundred in all sizes that I could part with - without taking away any favorites.

I placed… Continue

Veill #2 slowly takes shape...

This is a photo of the unfinished mastercopy of the second issue of Veill. Actually this is already the third issue: there are two issues number two. However, when I had finished the first second edition of Veill I thought: no, this is not what I want, this is too personal. And above that: far too literally.…

Zine Donations

Hi

I`m currently seeking donations of Zines in view to the creation of a new zine library in the North West of England, primarily the Liverpool/Merseyside area.  Initially the library will present itself in a series of pop up appearances until a permanent base can be secured.

Are you having a clear out of your old zine collection?

Maybe you write a zine and would like to spread the word of your publication?

Please get in touch if…

Quatros from July 2014

Quatros (7/14)
QUATROS

Door lit
from within

when you leave the Earth
the stars stop twinkling

star maps
voyage paths

white out stars
black ink space

What is a QUATRO. It’s a new type of very very short poetry that usually compares two things, in a haiku – way, packing a lot of meaning in a very small amount of words. There is usually a very real comparison, and behind it a 2nd deeper meaning

Guten tag, now I am studying German. can anyone recommend any language-learning books or resources, or German culture I should know about? At the moment, I am just using Livemocha, apps, and You Tube videos to study. This works well enough but using a tangible object (such as a…

Zinester's Response to Booker Prize List

Response to Booker Prize List

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/23/booker-prize-2014_n_5613062.html?ir=Books

This is not a book prize, this is a prize for novels - a type of literature that a lot of writers are not interested in. The mainstream has decided to wipe history clean of its real recent literary golden age of zines. Not only were they the best writing, but they… Continue

Froi is found! But it's bad! send him some love!

I got this from Froi of Dead Time's Zine:

Hello Fishspit,

I know you're kinda worried about me and I hate to say this but

another bad luck struck me this time and I'm in the worst shape ever. Another typhoon hit us last week, July 15 (Typhoon Glenda) and it

took the zine library with it, destroyed my mother house and wrecked lots of houses and properties here in my city. Our place had just got

it's electricity reconnected, so I'm unable to update you as early…

Froi of Dead Times Zine

Does anyone know what happened to Froi from "the dead times" page on here.  He's from the Phillipines.  His last message to me was desperate.  He doesn't respond to me on here and his e-mail is closed.  He was having it hard since the awful Hurricane ripped the Phillipines apart.  If anyone knows anything please let me know . . . he is an awesome dude.

10 Year Recording Project of 9+CD's worth - FINISHED 7/16/14 at 3:57

Dear Musea Readers,

Yesterday, July 16, 2014, I finished recording my 10 year and 9 CD voice and guitar project started in the summer of 2004.

My audio engineer Nolan Brett ran the machine after holding up 3 fingers, and I finished the third and last back up vocal harmony part to my original song titled "ROLL" with the line

"OH DARLIN"...ROLL" with my hands waving in the air!

Time 3:57 PM 7/16/14.*

crap you not

Okay. Assuming we're all human, all you gotta do to look "natural", is, uhm, not wear makeup.

With that in mind, let's wear facefull of makeup in order to look "natural".

There's probably a reason it's hard to rationalise, I'm sure, I'm thinking, hold…

Some uncommonly kind people asked me to answer some questions about zines. My answers are below.

How did you first become aware of zines and how did you get involved with making/ distributing them?
I'm probably one of the last generation who still learnt about new bands through fanzines : when I was at school I picked up flyers at gigs and used to get cassettes & fanzines through the post: crusty folk/punk and shoegaze indie psychedelic stuff, along with underground comics,…
