Message to Hollywood Stars

Hollywood stars are well paid. When people come up to the box office at the Inwood where I work, and complain about the high ticket prices, I reply, "Thank goodness all that money is going to me and none to the Hollywood Stars."

Well it's funny because it's just the opposite. Major Hollywood Stars are very well paid.

That is one reason for the high movie ticket prices.

These same stars are often very generous too. How many times have you read about a major donation,… Continue

American Library Association Conference Chicago ALA 2013

The experience at the ALA Conference began like a zine fest, as I set up my Junk Drawer table and displayed my work.  But soon people began stopping by who were entirely unfamiliar with the zine scene.  I was unprepared for questions from one gentleman who asked me how I made money from zines, and if I knew how many of a particular issue would sell.  These were people from more of the business side of public services.  I realized that it was important to connect with these…

A close friend passed away this morning.

So this morning I read a facebook status of a friend, Mila (she was known as Stephanie and was the frontman of Quiet Rot, a short-lived ‘riot grrrl’ band from my hometown). She wrote that our friend, Rizal just passed away at 7 a.m. I’m shocked. Straight away I remembered my wife said once, about quite a few of my friends died at a young age. First it was Syukree, then Abroko, then Aiman, and now Rizal! I can’t help but cried a few times…

Call for Submissions:

Us Amazonians - A Kirsty MacColl fanzine

Happy Christmas yer arse!  I'm looking for essays, non-fiction stories, and artwork about Kirsty MacColl and your experiences with her music.  It could be the first time you heard one of her songs, or how her backing vocals on that one Smiths track captured your heart.  Maybe her lyrics spoke to you in a certain way, or she was the soundtrack to a memorable night.

• Articles should be 300-1000 words

Dylan Williams,R.I.P

I think its cool people are reprinting all of Dylans shit online.Dylan was one cat that did sum up the proper ethos of what an independant publisher should strive for-he was down for the art,not the profit. Its a good way to be,since you arent going to make any fucking money anyway.Another thing that made Dylan cool was,he was a serious fan of comics.Zines are fanzines-made by fans of the art form-a nice way of saying,non-professional.Call it whatever you want.Theres definitely a loss due to…
