Queer invisibility zine stalled

I thought the zine was finished and just needed to be laid out.

Then I got home and realized that I wasn't happy with the ending. Now I am trying to write an ending, and I am STUCK.

I think I need to move the computer out of the messy office. I think I need to sit down and write before I go to work, as I seem too tired after work.

Endings are hard. Beginnings and middles aren't always easy either.

Exhibition featuring ME (and, I hope, YOU)

I have a little show opening at Little Fish Gallery on the 24th of June from 7:30pm til 10 or so. And you should come, for the following reasons:

There will be ART!

There will be a FREE ZINE for everyone who comes (yeay!)

There will be an UNFREE ZINE if you choose to purchase it (yeay! or boo!)

There will be SANGRIA! (the more I tell people this the more worried I get, because I've never actually made sangria before, I just like the idea of it, but… Continue

new zine

I just finished a zine. Its mainly art -drawings and scribbles with comments and musings by me. It's short tales of my experience as a black queer living in the world today. It's A5 and not too long, so good for those with short attention spans.

Musea E-mail Club #474 Visual Arts (Main Points of the Art Revolution)

Readers,

We're working on some changes on our Musea.us website. In looking through the listings, I found 3 main sections on art that I brought together on my blog at

They are titled:

1. Snake Oil – A Conceptual Art Piece/Video/Event that uses Conceptual Art to Attack the Abuses of Conceptual Art.

2.. The Last Minute of Modern Art Conceptual Art Event

Musea Art Contest 6/2/09 Quizical Fun

The answer to, and winner (if any) for,

our last contest question of:

This is a realistic method of painting only in grays that often imitates 3D sculpture. It was popular in 15th century Northern European paintings. Name it.

IS

Grisaille. Next time you look at these Northern European masterpiece paintings, notice the skill with which they painted sculpture to look like 3D!

I had no winner. Seems y'all were thinking in 2D!

Crone!

I've decided to make a zine, after donkey's years of doing nothing. A few apazines don't count. I came up with the title Crone, since I'm 48. I'm also working on some little minizines, those 8-pagers. That might be fun! I really need to see some zines though. Not that I want to copy or anything like that, but sometimes it does help to see what's out there.

I found a few zines I have in my collection of SF fanzines. Blimey! Were we really so young! And always depressed and… Continue
