New to We Make Zines

Gaming Insurrection is new to We Make Zines!

We are a small organization that focuses on retro video games and our experiences with them over the years. We do some features on current games, but not too many. We're very tiny, with a staff of about 5 that consists of the editor and four others spread out in North and South Carolina.

Hope to add more stuff on here in a little while. Our newest issue will be hitting on July 4. Check us out www.gaminginsurrection.com and our… Continue

Sun Zoom Spark zine - issue 1 sampler online

Hullo, We Make Zines.

In the mid 90s a few pals and I ran a zine from where we lived in the Scottish Borders, named Sun Zoom Spark (after a Captain Beefheart song). We ended up getting it distributed throughout the uk. It was full of absurdist humour, trashy artwork and photography, bizarre stories, stuff about female sexuality + interviews with old time punkers like The Ramones & Jonathan Richman, the up 'n' coming Brit… Continue

Monthly Zine!

My monthly zine, Blah Blah Blah, is about myself -- my adventures, my struggles, my day to day life. It is my memoir in real time.

Subscribing to my zine gives you the unique experience of receiving a zine in the mail every month.

Every zine is just eight pages and is 1/4 size.

If you make a zine regularly and sell subscriptions I would love to trade subscriptions.

I am also open to trading my back issues with people… Continue

The Arsonist

He stood back as he watched the flames lick around the windows. They ate up the curtains and went to devouring the window panes. They danced along the porch railing. They twisted and fell, and rose again, hungrily reaching for more. Towards the roof, the sky, the heavens.

Little did he know at the time, it was to be the first of several arson charges.

Instead, it felt cleansing at the time in ways he didn't know how to describe. He was never a man of beauty, but standing… Continue

Inconstancy

Donne said that the hardest lesson/realization in life is INCONSTANCY - that things are never lasting but always changing. I believe that. I've often taken comfort from movement myself. And here I go again, moving house (back to Devon) some friends can't keep track. And when I have to stay in a place for an extended period of time I'm so restless I end up visiting everyone. I think, the only kind of constancy I want in my life is the kind that comes through love and self-love - that placid… Continue

Boxed!

I bought a very pretty box in Machynllyth yesterday. I wasn't looking for a box to keep zines in, honestly! But it's so cute and those quarter size zines fit into it nicely. It's dark blue with flowers on it, and a picture of two cats on the lid. And i have a zine collection! I got three issues of Telegram Ma'am and two of Culture Slut from MarchingStars, and a copy of Fanzine Yfyntyn and Imaginary Uncles.

I'm still doing Crone, but I've also… Continue

Coming Soon: Adult Themes

I finished my Mistaken for Straight zine today (haven't even sent out all the copies I have promised to people), and I'm ready to start on my next project, Adult Themes.

I am organizing a reading for July 25. Four other woman writers and I are going to read hot, hot stories (and poems) on a hot, hot night. (I can't imagine it not being hot, hot in July in Kansas.) I thought it would be awesome to put together a zine of my sexy stories and poems to sell at the event. I am going… Continue

Mistaken for Straight is ready to go!

Whew! I took my zine down to the copy shop and made a bunch of copies. I felt good! Then, just about the time the last page slid out of the copier, I realized my post office box number on the "contact me" page was one digit off. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Oh well. As I worked my shift at the grassroots art space I am involved with, I just crossed out the wrong number and wrote in the right number. The zine is not perfect. Welcome to Chantel land.

Anyway, as I reread the last bits I… Continue

new zine!

I have a new zine out, Erik and Laura-Marie Magazine #45. It features autobiographical material on an annulment, walks, moving, jobs. There are three dreams. There are lots of poems. And there are book reviews and zines reviews of just about everything I read during the months I was collecting prose and poetry for the zine.

It's digest-sized and 32 pages, very text heavy.

My zines are free or trade, and I would love to trade with you. Please email me at gmail dot… Continue

Mistaken for Straight is DONE!

I just now (June 6, 2009 7:56 am) finished laying out my new zine, Mistaken for Straight! Yippee! I am quite excited. For a minute, I thought I would never get out of my writing rut and finish it.

I will go to the copy shop this morning and print it out.

It has 33 pages and is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.

I am asking $2 a copy, and I will for sure take trades. (I love trades.)

Here's a description from the front cover:
