zine makers, possibly the most self righteous people on the planet, are always quick to jump down anybody and everybodys throat with incredibly vague, misdirected, elitest accusations of random bullshit, usually sexism,racism,homophobia,agoraphobia,eco-centrism,agiesm or animal cruelty.accusations of abuse, hatred of women, cats, barn owls, scenes, community, you name it.you cant just walk around todays modern ziney sceney saying crazy, harmful, strong worded shit, like,"my favorite color is red".that's like… Continue

Poems Written in May 2011

Poems written during May of 2011 [poem notes in brackets like this]

1. [My version of an Haiku by Issa ]
a world of suffering
and yet... and yet...
the flower opens -
2. ['Fraid of Ghosts? then read on]
Usually we listen
to materializing ghosts
but this one rambled
with nothing to say.
soon being startled
was replaced by…

Musea E-mail Club #580 Erik's Book of Art Questions

Musea E-mail Club #580:  Erik Peterson's Book Of Art Questions

Saturday in the mail, I got 12 copies of a book made and printed by my nephew, Erik Peterson.  The title is  "I Don't Dumb Down, So Please Wise Up."
Sound familiar?
Those who have seen my weekly art contest, recognize that phrase. It's me warning my audience, that the art questions in the contest are not easy, with a subplot that education is good!
Erik has picked 12 of those art…

the unconsumer manifesto

One eighth size (2.75” x 4.25”), eight pages, containing the first manifesto I’ve ever written, about finding alternate ways to live in a world obsessed with acquiring material possessions. Salmon colored pages in a white two-color typed cover, bound with embroidery floss.

Needless to say I’m not…

Sneak Peeks

The newest issue of Kung Fu Grip! has a lot of cool-looking content, including three beautiful full-color pages. But the traditional 'PLAY' section was still printed in black & white. I really liked the original color images that inspired the writing in this section, though, and decided to share online a sneak peek at four of the six products that were blurbed over these two pages. In addition to that, I also decided that I would share something else… Continue

PLAY (Excerpts)*

Toon Tumblers

Remember those hot summer days of yesteryear when you walked into 7-Eleven with a handful of brow sweat and walked out gripping an icy beverage contained in a glass decorated with an image of your favorite comic book character? And remember how fun it was to go back every week to see which new hero glass…

Geiger vs. Dali (Alien Autopsy Remix)*

It’s impossible to recollect what book I was thumbing through when I ran across this sketch by the Spanish surrealist Salvador Dali. I do recall that I discovered it sometime during my first semester of graphic design school. That would probably date the photocopy that I made of it to sometime in 1994 or ‘95.

Come to… Continue
