goddamn zine tilt-a-whirl

A friend got back into zines recently after a hiatus and that announcement sparked something inside of me -- zines! What the hell have I been doing with the past couple of years, when's the last time I even TOUCHED a zine, let alone wrote one? Dusty typewriter, dried up glue sticks, stickers and paper and magazine scraps wasted, thoughts wasted, letters…

Call for Submissions: Greyhound Stories (Deadline April 15, 2011)

If you've ever taken a Greyhound bus, chances are you have a story worth telling. For years before I ever set foot on a Greyhound, I'd heard people make jokes about "the kinds of people" who ride the buses. I dismissed their comments as classist snobbery...until the first time I stepped into a Greyhound bus station. It was like stepping into a universe filled with people who had no sense of social boundaries or patience for small talk. Immediately, I was… Continue

News news news!

Alright, first of all:

I still have some copies left, and I'm sending them out to everyone who's willing to pay for shipping costs. The zine itself has become "donation-ware" as they'd call it in the IT world: feel free to give something, but if you're low on cash, just pay for shipping, and maybe 10 cent for wrapping & stuff. Do realise that it might take some time to send them out, but they'll go out for sure!

Secondly, I wanted to announce my new blog,…

Poems Written Late February 2011

Poems Written near the end of February 2011

POEMS
1.
in meditation
we rise up
like a dew drop
under the sun
2.
Behind that cliff
I imagine
10,000 birds
on the wing
3. [Nonsense verse]
There is a wild and mysticated wood
haunted by phantom familiars
that stalk the ether that sometimes lodges
in the fragrance of certain…

Call for submissions

Hi! I am working on the latest edition of The Flaneur, an indie culture paper/zine. If anyone has any short articles they would like to submit, on art, culture, humour then please send them to editor@flaneur.me.uk  . We're also looking for reviews, poems or short stories. We like to publish a couple of articles that are not in English, so if you have any in any foreign language that would also be great. But mainly English!

Thanks

Jonathan
