SO GUYS I HAVE THIS IDEA.
Basically, it involves the following:
1. anyone who wants to e-mails me a title of a list (that they come up with). (clara.lipfertATdresden.us)
2. I write all the titles everyone has come up with on pieces of paper and draw them out randomly, assigning each list title to one of the people who has contributed one. (you give a title, you get a title.)
3. you write out your assigned list on a 4.25" by 5.5" (that's a quarter of a regular… Continue

Xerox Debt & Payin' Dues Continue
As anyone with even a sliver of ethics would feel, I want to state right up front that I feel a tad bit awkward about writing a review of the most recent issue of Xerography Debt. This because the latest issue contains two reviews of my…

If I have to ask that question, should I give up making zines?

So, wow. I moved to Philly, and dropped out of zine making. Why, you ask? Job, relationship, etc. All of the stuff that usually get in the way.
So I have this best of zine that I made right after I got here, but never really distributed. Does anyone wanna trade? I think I have ten copies or so. I have a bunch of material surrounding my pretty serious drug addiction, deciding to get clean, and move away from my hometown. So I'll probably put all that in the next ish, but… Continue

I am starting a zine collection at Brooklyn College! The collection is going to be focused upon Brooklyn, and thus will include works made within the borough or about it, as well as any zine made by a current or former Brooklyn College-affiliated person, and zines about zines.
Do you know of something that we should add to our collection? Get in touch! Send me a line at zinecollection at brooklyn.cuny.edu. I'm following Barnard's model and trying to collect 2…

freedom of speech is more than just a tune by ice t.its what makes our shitty country slightly cool, and it is constantly under attack.thats why it constantly needs to be tested,by me.it doesnt get as much attention as other laws, and thats some fucked up shit.zines were a product of free speech laws that were established by hippies in the sixties.also, dollar bill picture motherfuckers wrote that shit into the constitution.plus, its the reason wymyn fought hard in the 70's for the right to not… Continue

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
This fashion historian devised a famous 'fashion cycle' in 1937. Name him and his law.
James Laver. Laver's Law first appeared in Taste and Fashion in 1937. His cycle starts with INDECENT = 10 years before its time, and ends with BEAUTIFUL = 150 years after it's time. See the full cycle here:… Continue

An hour or so again I sent Fate magazine a (belated) e-mail in response to their Sept.-Oct. 2010 issue. It was at email@example.com. About 15 minutes ago I got a "Maeler-Daemon" failure notice saying they couldn't deliver it. I've got the magazine right in front of me and I can't see a single letter out of place.
So I went to their website, www.fatemag.com, to see if they had a more up-to-date e-mail… Continue

The idea is simple:
There is a solution to the jobs problem and it could quickly put hundreds of thousands of people back to work. It is not pro left or right. It is not from any corporation, it's outside the government control, it's totally voluntary, and helps all with little sacrifice from… Continue

I'm super excited because I think I've talked my husband into co-writing a new issue of Comics & Beer which will actually be about -- gasp -- comics and beer. He may not realize he's a "co-writer," but he agreed to a couple of beer-related articles as we rated and discussed beers at length today (as usual), and he always has shit to say about comics.
I also have a video coming up on making one-page mini-zines. It's for my blog (… Continue
