Wake Up,Zine Fucks

I would think that there are some huge problems in the world today.Income inequality, for starters.Treating people like shit, is another one. Huge corporations destroying the environment is a major problem. Theres limited means at our disposal to stop these things, but we can slow them down. Getting involved, and even voting, as lame as that sounds, is a good start. Personally slowing down our own rate of blind consumerism helps. Reducing contributions to capitalist bullshit companies, and…

Zines-The 90's Zines Were So Much Better

Zine this, zine that. There's no real content to just being a fucking cheerleader.Zine community, blah blah blah.Theres more to good writing and art than just being positive. You should probably have something to say before you open your mouth and start espousing opinions on what people should buy, or who they can like.It sounds like most zines exist in a vacuum-no fresh air comes in,and everything is sucked out.Whats left is pure hobby-its there for the enjoyment of the producer. This is…

Cleaning Lady Sweeps out the Modern Art

Dear Musea Reader,

Cleaning Lady Sweeps Out the Old Art
This news story is about a cleaning woman who threw out some modern art, thinking it was trash. Reasonable mistake!

Zine Cartoonist Ace Backwards, on Books Books Books

Dear Musea Readers,

Ace Backwards was a cartoonist I discovered back in the 90's. He was in a lot of zines, I loved his humor and insight, and I wondered if I could reprint some of his panels in Musea.

I contacted him, and he said yes. From then on, for many years, I published one of his strips in each monthly issue.

Recently on Facebook I found an entry by Ace on BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS. I thought it was first rate - and something fellow book lovers will love too.

He… Continue

This week's art question -

The Son of Quizzicals

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:

This is a 3 parter connected to Mother Goose. You have to at least get 2 to win the prize. Answer these:

1. Who was the real Humpty Dumpty

2. During the mid 1300s, this bridge had more than 140 shops and houses on it. It's in Arizona.

3. This great American Poet was embarrassed that he wrote: There was a little girl/with a little curl/right in the middle of her forehead/..… Continue

Three Travel Poems

Three Poems On Far Away Places
Pick a star
any star
and make it home
for your heart

the castle was built
on a mountain top.
the windows edged up
to a steep long drop.
the tower rose up
between birds and clouds.
the climb was hard
but gave rewards!

When I go to visit
I take two maps,
one to get there
and one to get back.

Been A While

I'm sorry I've been away and inactive on this forum. I've been a little busy. Nonetheless, the first *OFFICIAL* issue of "Confessions of a Type 40" is projected to be available mid-April. It's a collaborative zine for and by Whovians, so submissions (poem/anecdote/review/short story/drawing) to be considered for the first issue are due by March 21st (2014).

Feel free to message me here or email me at confessionsofatype40 at gmail dot com.

Sayings of Editor Art (Art S Revolutionary)

SAYINGS of Editor Art (Art S Revolutionary)

Duchamp broke new ground 100 years ago. Now his clones are just shoveling dirt.

Rigidness never brings vitality

What astronauts are thinking about poverty; and what poor are thinking about going to Mars?

While Hollywood stars walk the red carpet, theater workers are swept under it.

In the not-so-distant-future, cats will take over the world through their 'cute on the net' world domination… Continue

Bruno Mars not Diva enough says critic

Bruno Mars accused of not being Diva enough!

This is perhaps the most bizarre quote I’ve ever seen from the music press. This excerpt from Huffington Press:

The actual quote was from New York magazine’s Jody Rosen, who spoke to the Times’ Dave Itzkoff about the NFL’s decision to select Mars for the halftime show:

Jody Rosen, the pop critic of New York magazine, hailed Mr. Mars as an artist with a dynamic stage presence and an energetic live band. But he also… Continue

Real Madness #5,Tim,and Dope

My new Real Madness Comics #5, Last Issue hasn't been selling that much. I still have 2 copies left. Its got 2 stories in it, tying up the loose ends from previous Real Madness Comics. The first is the conclusion of Fuck That Shit, from RM#1. The whole 5 issue series was printed up by Tim @ Teenage Dinosaur. When we first started, it was back in 2002 or so. I was working as a bouncer/doorguy, and Tim came and tracked me down. This led to the best comic I'd done in awhile, Crouching Skinhead…
