A Review of My Zine A Few Words

Anu wrote this review of my zine A Few Words for a past issue of Zine World.

A Few Words: A standout poetry zine, Chantal has a knack for creating tiny little worlds within her poems. “Longing for Home” is touching love letter to New Orleans. “Revelation” has a great lesson in it that we all should learn. “Anarchist Valentine” details the ups and downs of a prison romance. Many poems touch on the magic of the ordinary, causing the reader to pay more attention to seemingly mundane… Continue

My friend and i started by making a zine together... (we are collectively known as ^happycat^ ) we gave it away for free!( plus free 'artefacts'...yeah!)

We then made our own independent zines (mine leaning towards very childish drawings/polaroids and text...my friend's is a showcase of print making/illustrations and lots of birds!) and started taking them to… Continue

Because I'm a tragically unloved teenage girl.

Evenin' Britain. I was going to take advantage of my free-evening tonight; I thought I would try and record a new youtube video, but I found out that I either sing too quietly or too loudly (the latter is not worth talking about). So, i've done my french homework; and know I'm going to force-feed you my infatuations. ENJOY!

Jarvis Cocker: Yes, he's only a year younger than my own mother, but he's the epitome of suave and cool. Not to mention my fetish for bearded… Continue

Compilation Zine for International Zine Month

In celebration of International Zine Month for July 2009 I am creating a compilation zine about how YOU got into zines. The zine will be titled, "ENTRY POINT" aka "How did I get myself into this mess?" It's time to spill your guts about how Sassy Magazine, Riot Grrrl, the book Hard Love, etc turned you into the zinester you are today.

The format will be 1/2 sized. What I would like is for each zinester wanting to take part to submit their own ONE page of a 1/2 zine, already layed… Continue

Review of the Flow Chronicles by the Urban Hermitt

I wrote this review a couple of years ago, but it was never published anywhere. Now I am posting it here.

The Flow Chronicles

The Urban Hermitt

Microcosm Publishing

I read a couple issues of the Urban Hermitt’s eponymous zine a few years ago and really enjoyed them, so I was excited when my partner sent me a copy of The Flow Chronicles, Hermitt’s first book. Like the zines, this book was super fun to read!

Hermitt writes about coming of age and coming… Continue

Richmond Zine Fest 2009 needs more core organizers!

Richmond Zine Fest 2009 is currently being organized and we're looking for a few more people to help be core organizers. Core organizers are responsible for the logistics of the event: settling on a venue, date (which is already somewhat settled), as well as figuring out how to finance and promote the event, and taking care of any other smaller issues concerning the Richmond Zine Fest.

We're currently a group of 4 or 5 women who are friendly and get along really well. We individually… Continue
