Photo of zines and letter I will be returning removed at Zac's request.
Thought I'd do this publicly so I don't get accused of being unreasonable/mean/evil/whatever.
I will be returning some of Zac's zines that I received for distro stock with the following note:
It is with regret that I am unable to stock your zines and have to return them to you. Since receiving them for stock it came to my attention that some of your comments on a blog post on WMZ go… Continue

Truth be told, I am still unceratin if this is something that I want to venture into. But I have given it a lot of thought, and hey, everything worthwhile can and WILL more than likely be challenging, right?
But in an attempt to see how it goes and how prepared I am for it, I'll be starting building a catalogue. So send your zines in! If it comes to worst and the Distro doesn't open (sooner than I hope), I'll still be writing reviews of your zines in my… Continue

So I'm off and running on zine number 2. This one is under the phaugey dox heading, but is called pecuiar landscape. I decited I wanted to do something that would mess with the idea of normal and perseption of what normal life looks and feels like.
So it's going to take a bit to finish.
My hope is that by the time it's done some of the other problems I've been looking at will be fixed.
New copier. printer, better camera, fixed car. Ok so the car might not be fixed by then but who… Continue

SPIEL: This is Adam's first zine in something like 4 or 5 years! and it's awesome! Basically, each page is a document from Adam's workbook of... "word art?" What should we call this type of thing...? How's about we call it amazing! because I'm blown away by what Adam's pulled off. Basically, each page is a gag cartoon with out the drawing... but somehow it's still drawing... Basically, the shape of Adam's humor and insight both inform and are informed by the content of their language...… Continue

The first issue of Larry is finished :) It's A5, 32 pages, B&W, and photocopied on 100% recycled paper but the quality isn't great :/ Each copy is hand tied with string, hand numbered, and has an outer cartridge paper cover with a window cut by hand with a rather blunt craft knife. It contains random writings on public transport, vegetarianism and some other stuff; pictures up now.
Only 25 have been made; please get in touch if you would like to trade for or a buy a copy… Continue

The answer to, and winner (if any) for,
our last contest question of:
Gustav Holst composed a suite for the Planets. I think I'll do my version (for the sake of this question). In my version I am going to arrange the pieces in the order of each planet's discovery. The first five planets
are the ones the ancients knew: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
I'm done with those five parts of my suite. Now the question is, 'What planet is next in my musical… Continue

To everyone who came along to the stall on Saturday! We sold quite a lot of stuff - enough to pay some folks up front for a whole lot more zines for the distro. Huzzah!
Thanks also to everyone who has ordered from the site since it opened. I've spent the last hour or so fixing spelling mistakes and evening out some inconsistancies on the catalogue pages. Huzzah again! The next step is to sloooowly start adding buttons for international purchases...
RIP Learning to Leave a… Continue

Ok so I got over excited about the whole thing, and finished it in two days. I took pictures of the cover and some of the guts(inside of it) and am posting them in my pictures.
On to the second issue...should I pick a topic and beat it to death?

I'M FIRED UP! I just got home from walking all over Seattle and things are happening! Potential lurking everywhere! Construction! Seattle's lousy with construction! Forget driving! It's impossible! You now have to walk Seattle!
I'm swooning over all the forgotten alleyways! and all the haunts still hanging. Dormant memories sprouting years after the fact... Each street corner gathering rain and making all the debris mush... But I'm getting distracted (First & Pike News still… Continue

So just a quick update as to where I'm up to with the latest ShadowPlay, I'm sure regular readers will be aware that it's been over a year since the last issue - a fact I find painful but also realistic. The problem with having a day job in which you both expend a load of energy and also, y'know, give a toss (previously unheard of for me) is that it really does test the energy levels.
Anyway, excuses over, its shaping up to be a really good issue under the particularly vague and… Continue

After brainstorming and comming up with a list of names for my zine, I still didn't have one that I really liked. I decided to just start cutting letters out. I've got this stack of typerwriter key letters that I got a couple of years ago from one of the craft stores here in town.
They were ten cents a peice so I bought the whole stack.
Anyway, I'm cutting out letters while these different words are going through my head and it hit me, foggy docks, but since I really love these… Continue

WHAT IS ALPOLG?

It's 8:38 a.m. I've been wandering around on this site. First day here. Into the world of learning I go, hi ho, hi ho, cookies and milk or maybe something else to chew on while I'm reading and thinking and thinking somemore.
I've been doing art for a long, long time now and writing for a long, long time and I've heard about zines for a few years and have tried to grab hold of what zines really are and so I'm here to learn and make my own. But I need a name that says it all, speaks to the… Continue

This issue took me a little longer than normal to complete....it is much thicker than my previous zines (eight 8.5 x11" pages folded in half) and also more personal. In this particular zine I open with talking about the domestic violence relationship I was in and how it has changed my life...a subject that was somewhat difficult for me to write on, but one that I knew I had to do in order to move forward with my life. This issue is also filled with random short stories and poetry… Continue
