I'm a military wife, and we're stationed at a training base. And. There's nothing here. I mean. There's nothing here. No poetry groups, no art stores (except over an hour away),no interest, and the…Continue

"Yes, we have a very tiny library.. both on base and here in the neighboring town where we now live. I haven't been to base to approach the library since we moved because of work, but I'm going to go as soon as I can. Maybe there's a…"

"Hey Katrina--Thinking about your nowhere-ville blues. Does your base have a library? I've been getting requests from base libraries for my Zines for Troops project. So, I'm sending them seed zine libraries from the donations. Do you think…"

A new Addition!

I'm pretty excited because the OOAK Gallery just has it's first zine contribution arrive today: Best Dream Ever, a mini-comic by Don Picton. I don't have pictures of it up yet and I should be putting it up for sale in the distro before a few days.I  had approached Don Picton, the maker of Best Dream Ever, about selling a few in my distro because it was perfect. The comix itself is a little larger than the size of my hand and, well, the OOAK Gallery specializes in small things. It's a mini-comic…See More

"I remember the first zine I ever saw: Trouveare's Laureate. And that's because they published me. 1989. I had no idea what it was. I was like "why is it so SMALL?" LOL"

"I'm sorry you're stuck in the middle of nothing! Do you make a zine? I grew up in the middle of nowhere, and created my zine out of creative frustration and a lack of anything better to do. I'm in a big city now, though."

"New Orleans, huh? It's a shame to think that such an area so full of culture would be struggling with the zine department. At least they have you still working on things. "

Zines!

Want to send a thank you and a shout out to those who donated to get the  Minibook Exchange going. I had even purchased some books from people to get some stock. I attended Cyphacon last weekend and ALL of the books were taken by interested readers. If I can get to more conventions, then that portion of the Minibook Exchange will certainly be an advertising success for zine and comix makers trying to get the word out.And my zine library list has gotten quite long. Goodness all around. My new…See More
