Hello, I live in the Scottish Borders and I've spent most of my adult life involved in various creative pursuits: zines, bands, running a record label, writing and making videos & machinima. Here's some more info about My Life In Projects...
COME VISIT MY NINGSPACE: SHARK BATTER DIY Indie Creators & Alt-Culture
LABELI co-run Scottish label
Shark Batter Records along with my brother Stone Ghost Mike and some friends. Our acts are singer/violinist
Kono Michi (based in Brooklyn, NY), my band
The Stark Palace, Mike's band
The Stone Ghost Collective and our friends' band
Vacuum Spasm Babies. We released a bunch of EPs in 2008 and got quite a bit of radio play in the UK - including Radio 3, Radio 1 In Scotland and BBC 6Music.

BANDSI'm on the left in that pic. My compadriate with the tie is Cameron Jack
As well as
The Stark Palace I'm guitarist with
Dawn Of The Replicants (fronted by Paul Vickers). We've released 5-ish albums on a major and several indies since 1998, recorded 4 John Peel sessions and played festivals like Glastonbury, Reading & T In The Park in the UK + Austin, TX's SxSW festival.

ZINESI didn't do that Fall article but it was my Mum who painted the band's portraits. Heehee.
My friends and I ran the Scottish underground magazine
Sun Zoom Spark (named after a Beefheart song) in the mid '90s. This became a nationally distributed monthly in the UK. We got loads of great interviews but folded after a couple of years 'cause of rising paper prices and the difficulty of convincing advertisers to invest in a mag based so far outside of London.
Since SZS I've sporadically done my own trashy photocopied zine dumb/SULK trigg-er, largely inspired by discovering Lisa "Suckdog" Carver's Rollerderby.

VIDEO & MACHINIMAFor years I've been messing around with video - making music vids & documentaries for our bands. I've also started making Machinima, using Lionhead's TheMovies game and SecondLife.com. Hopefully MovieStorm soon, too. Find my vids on
YouTube and
TMUnderground.com.
The portrait of me with the crow up there is by Edinburgh-based artist, Mary Trodden, who also does Dawn Of The Replicants sleeve art + the cover of a recent Shark Batter Records compilation CD.
