I am so happy to have found WE MAKE ZINES! I love the idea of having an online community where I can share my writing with others. To me the hardest thing is promoting my zines...actually getting people to read them! I am hoping that by signing up here it will make the process of promoting a little easier. With that being said...I am always up for trading zines with others so if you are interested in doing so just say the word!!!
I have been writing poetry and short stories since I was a young grrrl. In high school I wrote for the school newspaper (mostly movie and music reviews) and then I made a friend who introduced me to the world of ZiNeS! I fell in luv immediately with the idea of being able to share my thoughts and ideas with others in such a creative way.
Perhaps what I luv best about zines is the freedom they give its creators...there really are no limits as to what can be done! I currently make my zines the old fashioned way... cutting/pasting/photo copying/stapling...however I would eventually like to advance to e-zines. I have attempted to toy with making an e-zine in the past, but found it to be too complicated. It's probably for the best though...as I truly enjoy getting my hands dirty when expressing my creativity!
Much of the writings in my zines are a result of some personal experience or feelings I have toward a particular topic. For instance, I have been a victim of domestic violence (on more than one occassion) so quite often I will write on this subject.... I also have a luv for music and the world of metaphysics, so sometimes I may write on these topics. Essentially, I try not to limit myself by designating only certain topic... this would most definitly stunt my creative growth!
Aside from creating my zines, I also put a lot of time into doing arts and crafts such as painting and making greeting cards. Both my zines and my arts and crafts can be purchased in my Etsy shop (http://www.blambert1.etsy.com).

I feel as though I have been in hibernation for the past few months... like I have been watching my life unfold ever so slowly before me. Things have changed so dramatically in my life that I almost feel like a completly new and different person. I am almost divorced... my teenage daughter is running a muck... I have a new assignment at work...I have found love (and fallen hard I might add)... and I have created a new zine after putting Little Grrrl Lost & Found to bed.
I have…

Has anyone done a zine related to pet peeves?
Is anyone interested in sharing their pet peeves in a zine?
How do you deal with your pet peeves? Why do certain things set you off?
Some of my pet peeves are:
people who walk slow in front of me...
people who drive with their blinker on when they are not turning...
bread crumbs on the counter...
crying children in restaraunts and movie…

With Halloween having just passed I began thinking about superstitions and the silly things people do for fortune and good luck. I found myself making a wish this morning when my clock read 11:11 and I thought to myself..."I wonder how this supersition or tradition started?" I also found myself wondering how many other people out in the world make a wish at this time? So in thinking of these questions it stirred the creative parts
of my brain into thinking, "I should dedicate a zine…
