Activist, zinester, all-around trouble maker

That's me, redguard (aka greg butterfield). After years of wishing I could do a zine, I finally started one -- Absent Cause, which came out in July. Currently I'm working on the second issue of AC and my comic book, Red Army Comix.

I'm a long-time radical activist and journalist, father of a boisterous 3 year old grrrl, and survivor of an abusive childhood and adult relationships. I'm also a goth and someone who struggles with body image issues. I treasure the connections I've been making with the wonderful community of zinesters!

As the editor of Absent Cause zine, I want to invite my fellow zinesters to join in this important protest and boycott of Arizona's racist, anti-immigrant law SB1070. Please consider adding your name to the list of endorsers and voicing your opposition to the law in the next issue of your zine.

  • Surviving under a classist, anti-poor, racist, sexist, anti-queer and fat-phobic system

  • Sex work and survival

  • What should be the role of social-justice activists and organizations in personal survival issues?…

Absent Cause #3 rocks, dude! Not often today do you see such a wide array of contraversial and edgy thinking. I loved the book excerpt! When it comes out I must have a copy to review! This is not negotiable!

Hey, I saw your zine 'Absent-Cause: Duality' reviewed in Broken Pencil and was wondering if you'd be interested in trading at all. The zines I have available are on my main page.

hi! saw your blog post about your "On Loving 'Dracula" 24 hour zine and that looks really cool (not to mention vampires are one of my favorite movie/literature topics hehe). "Absent Cause" #3 also sounds quite interesting... do you accept payments & ship to Portugal? :D
