Yo...Sup!

Hello is this thing on?

Hi, my name is raequel...and i do zines. i was a longtime reader and i really wanted to write/make zines since the mid 90's when i learned about them through Sassy and the long dead but not forgotten Factsheet Five.

i FINALLY did something about making a zine in 2003 when i started Childlike Empress, i did two issues of that before life happened and i got distracted by podcasting, i did the Triscast in 2005 as well i started a very short lived zine podcast called ZineVox.

i also did a zine featuring my original writing called the SysTris Reader, and a zine about being/doing podcasting before it got mainstream called SysTris Does the Podosphere.

i've been reviewed in different issues of Xerography Debt, and in the Nth Degree magazine (it's a geek fanzine if you care). also, stuff i've written was featured in two issues of Dig This Real, and i was among the spinster-viewees (spinster+interviewee) for White Blackbirds, a zine by a good friend of mine Katie from La La Theory.

i am so grateful this community is here because its totally cool that so many zinesters rockin it out around here, like a 24/7 zine fest in cyberspace...

please friend me, i dont bite!

Yo Folks...

first off i have an idea...probably not an original idea but i was thinking about doing a comp zine about people in their 30s-40s-50s+ still involved with music or art subcultures... (Punk, Raver, Goth, Hip-Hop). i'll be 35 in oh seven days or so and i've been in and around the goth scene for...a long time.

Being in my mid 30s is kinda disconcerting... i cant be the only one going through a Scene-Life Crisis? i spent so many years building who i was…

wow, this place continues to rock! i am so glad that i joined WMZ and that i have met so many new zine friends online and offline...but of course i'm still laaaammmeee...havent zined since last year. this year i havent been to any zine fests due to all my friends hitching up (five weddings this year! five!!!) and my job not paying me money to live a real life!

but i joined up with a Facebook group (probly another reason why i havent been 'here') and i have pledged to put out a…

for the first time in eight years i will not be at the Rotunda with a stack full of xeroxed goodness. this does make me sad BUT i have a good reason, a dear friend of mine will be getting married in central PA on sunday and i cannot miss this for the world! again, i do send my regrets that i cant hang out with my zinester peeps and to meet new people and read new stuff!

also, due to the fact that i have a crap job that makes no money to travel and no vacation time left…

I thought you might find this interesting. This is a perzine I did about a demonic experience I had that led me to Christianity. True story. I used to be on the borderlines of agnostic and atheist, and I was raised Buddhist, but this experience led me to God.

It's a very short zine, I hope it qualifies as one. You can read the PDF form here: The%20Incubus%20a%20testimony.pdf

Oh my goodness he is a doll! Welcome to the cat lady club, I'm so glad you've finally joined us. We're an odd bunch but we have fun. Seriously, he is really a sweet-looking cat, congratulations. Isn't it fun to have the company of a fuzzy li'l friend around the house?!

BTW, no pressure but I'm doing a group reading next Saturday, the 28th, at Moonstone (formerly Robins Books). I'll be reading something from the White Elephants book, yay! If you're free you should come.

Heya! So nice to see you on Sunday. Did you enjoy the rest of your vacay? Would you like me to burn you a copy of the mix CD I got in the raffle? It's not bad. Also you're right, the Vapors are pretty legit.
