damnation zine/i.o.i newsletter

Damnation zine/ Refuse n resist zine/ Incite of insight newsletter

Damnation zine (formerly UNITY zine) - started ard 1998-99, with originally a stupid name called Moroner zine. My zine was started in senior high and i made a lot of "sales" selling my zine and merchandise to my own secondary school mates. After that i changed it to Maltri-NeoEmo zine, and again i changed it to UNITY zine in 2000 before finally settling to DAMNATION in 2003.
(ridiculous heh?)
Mainly focuses on the Local D.I.Y music scene: int/s, columns contributed from all ard the world, international scene reports, articles and the usual knick knacks. Ranges from Hardcore/punk, Anarcho Crust, youth-crew, new school hardcore, oi, power-violence and punk rawk.
First Issue: 1998
Latest issue: #4/5 (Released 2004)

Refuse n Resist Zine
: was started as a side project; as a political outlet, and it's more "crustier" and cut-n-paste as fuck. The first issue came out in 2000 and the 2nd one in 2001... Interviews with ALF, ABC, and the Anarcho Punk Federation etc..
Back ard that time, i believed this was the only zine totally focusing on anarchist politics in singapore.. Most are either dead or there were typically more zines on personal fanzines and music-based zines...
Was paid a visit by the I.S.D (secret police) in 2002 - they visited my home and took all my zines - Shows you how much the stoopid singaporean government can be sumtimes - let the whole world know ! , and the zine became dormant for a whole 3 years until abt 2005 when i released my 3rd issue.
The 3rd issue came abt with the urging of mates and this also became a collective zine, and was dwelled more on hacking, tech and humour...This time, being more careful and discreet... (Fuck the Police!)
First Issue: 2000
Latest issue: #3 (Released 2005)

Incite of Insight Newsletter: This is my twice-yearly or quarterly newsletter ( or that's what i think..) and has probably become more active than my zines in recent times... Maybe that's becos it's a lot cheaper to release an 8 pgs n/l than a 60pgs zine... It focuses on Anything from news, upcoming gigs and bands - no matter what your genre, classifieds and ads was posted thru our newsletter...The newsletter first started out in 2001 as a split newsletter between me (a crust kid) with an old-skool hardcore guy, UNITY !!! So, it was like two zine editors doing a split newsletter. Fancy heh? The project kicked off great and it turn out greater in years to come to come until i went back to doing it solely ard 2005.
First Issue: April 2001:
Latest issue: April 2007

Rebelliance Distro/Rebel recs: 2000-2004
i also did a small distro but its totally defucnt now as newer distros with more spending power put me off the map a few years ago... or maybe i'm just damn lazy...

..........................
Ever since 2005, i've been heavily involved in the art scene, namely takin a diploma in visual communication and got a job as a graphic designer... so i wasnt pretty active in putting out zines( funny isnt it?) ... though i did instill the graphic design and desktop publishing skills i've learnt to my newsletters...
And i hope to instill more art, comics, creativity and a personal touch to my Damnation zine in future....

And that if i still start putting out issues AGAIN !

You never know...maybe art zines had a crush on you back, but they were just waiting for you to pass a note during study hall.

Thanks for getting back to me. I wrote and submitted the article in December, so I don't really need any more input. I do appreciate your response.

However, realised that i'm not a particularly good advertisment for Whip, but geometry on a wall might be.
