"The monopoly is on private companies using USPS postage or USPS mailboxes or facilities, which makes sense, because they're owned by the USPS. This is logical and fair. I wouldn't slap a UPS label on a letter and put it in my mailbox and…"

James N. Dawson replied to courtney's discussion the decline of USPS
"Take a look at Wikipedia's article on the USPS. It pretty much confirms my claim that it's a monopoly. I say, strike that monopoly down and give somebody else a chance. Anybody and everybody for that matter."

James N. Dawson replied to courtney's discussion the decline of USPS
"My understanding is that the USPS has a monopoly on FIRST CLASS delivery, which presumably has a technical/legal definition. Whether anyone would be allowed to set up their own mail delivery system I'm not sure about, but I suspect not. Maybe…"

i have a new zine out called hello alabama: a one shot disaster. it's all about going to library school, my move to alabama, alienation, race, recycling, free speech, reproductive rights, and a lot more. 34 pages with map inserts, hand colored covers. if you would like a copy, please paypal me $2.44 (for US) $2.75 (Canada), or $2.98 (UK) at: talknrrrdy2me@gmail.com

i have been involved in the zine community since 1994. i am rapidly approaching 30 and although i haven't put out a new issue of my zine, muse, in a few years, i consider myself in it to win it (for the long haul, in other words).

i write mainly about mental health issues, feminist politics, art, media, the south, and whatever else strikes my fancy.

oh yeah, i also wrote a one shot mini about relationships called my heart, the doormat.

i enjoy photography, snail mail and mail art, bookbinding/crafts, singing in the shower, and attending library school.

ughhh, finals. thanks for the sympathy. 3 down, 2 to go. fortunately I have a break till the 12th.

I'm mostly trading Death Never Says My Dear and Uncurl, Squirrel right now. I've got some old copies of the Ordinary zines left (and I always throw One Year of Love into trades for cat lovers) but they're not that current and I just get kinda bored of them, y'know? (I forget other people haven't read/copied them a million times and don't get bored, haha.) basically anything listed on my profile is available. :) see anything you like?

i hung out with a lot of CH people. All my closest friends went to CH, and his name sounds familiar, but I don't think I know him. IB involves a lot of writing. Classes were really small with the same twenty kids for about four years. I don't think it was around when you were in going through high school, though. I think the class of 02 was the first time they offered it.

Crazy, though, that we lived so close!
