"Started Musea in 1992. There was not only a real explosion of zines from the desktop publishing advances, but a real sense of community. Zines reviewing other zines just to help promote them. See if anyone in any art does that today! 90's were…"

UP THE PUNX

When I read about people critisizing punk rock, I think it sounds pretty unfair. I'm too old to be a punk rocker now, but I still do comics for punks, and know a few punks. A lot of the people you read talking shit about how stupid punk rockers are, they have college degrees and shit. That's not really fair for somebody that's all edumuhcated to pick on people that are stupid like me. I just got my G.E.D, and it was really hard! I've only been using a computer for like 5 years. I don't want…See More

Wake Up,Zine Fucks

I would think that there are some huge problems in the world today.Income inequality, for starters.Treating people like shit, is another one. Huge corporations destroying the environment is a major problem. Theres limited means at our disposal to stop these things, but we can slow them down. Getting involved, and even voting, as lame as that sounds, is a good start. Personally slowing down our own rate of blind consumerism helps. Reducing contributions to capitalist bullshit companies, and…See More

Punker Than Thou

Look,I know wemakezines is probably the most popular social networking sight right now-everybody knows that. But lately, some fans have been asking really stupid questions-shit like,"Who are you?",or "Whats your problem?",or my personal favorite,"Wheres the money I loaned you?".Well, since a lot of younger, stupider people have never seen my art (As unbelievable as that sounds),its time to introduce them to one of my favorite people-Me.Although I'm usually refered to as The King of Punk, lately…

Fucking hillside in Washington state collapsed and killed like 13 rednecks.Did you see that shit? That was some fucked up shit. And now,the gummint came out with a report that they had a report in 1997 from two smart geologists that said not to clear cut there, but went by the old 1988 guidelines instead.Clear cutting ruins both of the already crappy states of Washington and Oregon. Why the shit cocksucking hell piss whore doesnt anybody do something about it?Well, you can't.The Family, the…

Just found an article at the Seattle Free Press published yesterday about Microcosm (and Joe). I'm on my phone, which won't let me paste here for some reason. Also, I wanted to add that they used a mediator who also writes zines--most folks don't make a living with the zines, as you likely know. Anyway, I hope you find the article and find it helpful.

You just commented on a post I wrote over two years ago (!) about Joe Biel and Microcosm. There have been a bunch of articles since my post, one new one just about a week ago. Everyone who worked with Joe at Microcosm in Portland (with Alex) has since come out with their own stories of emotional abuse and a cult-like organization. So, don't base your views on a two-year old blog post. Google. You'll find plenty of more recent info.

Your comics are weird for sure, but not crappy! Quality weirdness. I accidentally only put Shards #10 into the envelope I just sent you but I'll add #9 to my next mailing.

Hey Madness? I want to trade you my new stuff for your most recent stuff--2 of mine for 1 of yours, since mine is not a quality visual artistic. But. . .I am that jerk who loses addresses. What is yours again? Thanks!

At 8:56pm on April 11, 2013, Kari Tervo said…

Hey, thank you so much! I'm so glad you grooved on it! Thanks for reading. Let me know if you want to trade again in the future.

At 7:51pm on March 26, 2013, Kari Tervo said…

Haha, some of your stuff looks disturbing, but the message is very well thought-out. You don't fool me! ;)

At 1:19pm on March 21, 2013, Kari Tervo said…

Thanks for the awesome comics! I just got them but am already so jazzed about how cool they look. And how gross some of it is. :) I will send you some issues of Shards in return! I'm not home to fix you an envelope right away so bug me if you don't get them within a couple weeks. Thanks again!

Hey Mr. Madness--Were you supposed to send me some of your stuff? I think I sent you a copy or two of my zine, Shards of Glass In Your Eye. I want to read something of yours! Whaddya say.
