She was ready for anything...

it was decided recently that i might only make zines because i like the smell of toner and i really like watching photocopying robots do their job.

i build two different zines.
one is a perzine called 'she was ready for anything'
the other is a storybook zine called 'misery is my muse'.

i have been building zines on my own and in groups since 1999/2000ish.

i have the phrase 'cut & paste' tattooed on my feet as a tribute to my zinester-ism.

during the day, i make clothing and run a concept shop/contemporary gallery in downtown barrie, ontario (just north of toronto). i don't build nearly as many zines as i used to because of this. i'm going to try to work on that.

i am always up for a trade, i am building an extensive library of zines not built by me.

sometimes my zines are for sale:

falling behind

too many places to post too many things when i really don't feel like typing and would much rather just watch new music videos on youtube.

i will be teaching a mini-zine workshop at the creative space here in barrie. randomly i was talked into this by my newest artist friend jill. i am horrified that i agreed (since i am not a good teacher) and excited at the prospect of brining zines back to barrie (or at least getting a handful of people interested in small press).

she was ready for anything issue 10 is done!

as an added bonus, parts of it were printed in colour due to the fact that someone different was in charge at my photocopying place, and they aren't used to my crazy photocopying assignments. so, whatever... it's issue 10 in my 10th year as a zinester, so it's all the more special now that it's in colour. the next batch won't be in colour, so grab one up from… Continue

she was ready for anything issue 10!

has been printed out and is waiting to be cut and paste into a zine. by this time tomorrow it will actually resemble something that can be photocopied!

finally!

it actually hasn't been that long since issue 9 i don't think... but this zine has been fighting me the whole way. it was just sentence fragments for the longest time. putting it together into something cohesive was epic. i am also making a mini-zine called 'ten years ago today... or a day just like…

i was thinking about having myself a mustache II!

Posted on July 30, 2010 at 9:53pm 2 Comments

i managed to put a hold on all my failings and dropping of balls and in a mad rush, late into the night, i cut and pasted my heart out and finished 'i was thinking about having myself a mustache II'... that's right. 75 more out of context quotes from people i know!

a handful of friends have seen it, giggled and raved. so it must be a success. also, i just listed it on etsy. more than willing to trade…

continued epic fail

so, my zine 'i was thinking about having myself a mustache' made it to the front page of etsy the other day. pretty much the best thing to ever happen to me (as of lately anyway).

in other news, i'm stuck in an endless loop of nothingness. i have to start making fall/winter collection at work (its hard sewing wool when its hot outside). i keep fussing around with all those sentence fragments that are supposed to be the next issue of 'she was ready for anything'...... to no…

hey, im creating a zine called "Life despite Life" and im wondering if you want to contribute anything to it?

So far i've decided it will be about ways to relieve stress, blue thinking (depression) and ways to cope with life; like happiness tricks. haha so really its like a rough quide to life.

im looking for tips and stories you might want to share. maybe even some art or comics?

i'm just in the planning stages so im up for many suggestions or tips you may have! my contact email is larissa.maye19@gmail.com

Do you think you'll be making any more of the I Was Thinking About Having Myself a Mustache zines? It looks like they are all sold out on Etsy.
