using a thicker paper that has no gloss coat or varnish to it will help it to hold ink and copy well.

Okay then, this week I sent off three letters in the hopes that somebody replies - wish me luck! I might go through my shoebox of zines and send letters long overdue as well..

How cool is that?! I love learning new stuff, that's pretty awesome.

I dream of getting a day buspass with a friend one day and just leaving small zines EVERYWHERE. Just got to find a friend who's into zines first :D

Thanks so much to everyone for their advice, this weekend I'm going to a stationary shop and I'm going to buy all the things you suggested and then to tests using my photocopier :D

I used to live in Lincolnshire! Amusing, if only you and I had hung out then...we could've zined it up :D

I have used a fountain pen because the ink is literally runny and it soaks in quite nicely, always photocopies well. It also keeps your handwriting neat. But you know, different things work for different people.

I primarily use a black in pen or sharpie pen and write on plain white paper...no lines on the paper. Sometimes when making copies it is helpful to adjust the 'lighter/darker' option on the copier.

Easy fix... don't write in your mock up. Write on a separate piece of paper and paste it in.

I do most of my text on a typewriter, but when I do want to write something out, I use a Pilot Hi-Techpoint. I'm left-handed as well, but I don't have a problem with smudging most of the time and it photocopies great, even if I use the photo & tex...

hey, saw this up in the forums:
"Also, when I have sent letters out of even replied to letters sent by someone I traded with, I've got nothing back. It doesn't seem worth it."
Just wanted you to know that your stuff is on my stack of things to write letters back to, but that stack is like 50 deep right now... personal stuff piled up and I fell behind on zine things. I know that comment wasn't about anyone specific, I just wanted you to know I enjoy communicating with you, it just akes time with me.

no problem. I think I sent you Ordinary, Issue 1. And you'd said to just write a note to remind you to send me something later when your laptop was fixed :) so don't worry, I'm not bugging you to send me something back, I just wanted to make sure you'd got it since the post has been a bit weird here lately.
