About Me
Hi! I'm 48, married with a 22 year old daughter. We live on the coast of west Wales, with four cats, a hen and a goldfish. I started making zines when I was around 7 years old, though I had no idea that that was what I was doing! An Uncle used to work at a stationer's and he would bring presents of offcuts of paper, drawing pads and notebooks. My sister and I used all that lovely paper to make our own comics. We were avid fans of the Bunty, Judy, June & Schoolfriend and our cousins' boy's comics.
Later, as a member of the Puffin Club, I was interested in writing and illustrating my own stories. In 1980 I discovered science fiction fandom and met the man who was to be my husband. My first fanzines were from Chuck Conner; I still have them! I was aware of small press literary zines, but had no idea that zines existed much outside of SF fanzines. I edited the Birmingham SF groups's newsletter, as well as writing and producing my own fanzines. I was a member of lots of apas. Lots and lots of apas! I am currently a member of the Australia & New Zealand apa, the American Amateur Press Association and the National Amateur Press Association. (The latter included HP Lovecraft as a member, once upon a time.)
My first zine in years is titled Crone, as I am as near as darn it to 50 and embracing my crone years. I'm a Pagan, a Piscean and Old Enough To Know Better!
