Ren! replied to MAS's discussion Is there a market for selling old zines as collectors items like comics?
"Yeah, pretty sure this was a joke; I am positive that there would be no one as stupid so as to post about doing something so obviously dumb and unethical on a community like this with any sort of seriousness. Effective troll is effective, though. "

Ren! replied to Craven Rock's discussion Anti-zinester sentiment! How do you feel about the term zinester?
"I wouldn't say this is an argument so much as it is friendly discussion, and I'd much rather this than some of the drama I see a lot of. This is nice, this is healthy and friendly discourse, and it's important to have a voice! :D "

"Well, what about just... reprinting them and asking instead for payment, for them to send you enough stamps to mail it and a few extra to help cover printing costs? "

Ren! replied to Craven Rock's discussion Anti-zinester sentiment! How do you feel about the term zinester?
"I like this viewpoint, and I try and live by it too. A label or word might describe me, but it fits me, not the other way around. "

"I started reading zines about '04, and thought it was so cool that you could publish anything by yourself! It took me damn well long enough to make my own (I just finished my first real zine a few weeks ago!) but it was well worth it. I at…"

Ren! replied to Craven Rock's discussion Anti-zinester sentiment! How do you feel about the term zinester?
"I've been reading zines since maybe '04, and making zines only for a few months, so I guess I'm part of that "irritating new breed" as well, but I'm proud to be a part of any scene that allows anybody at all to say…"

So, i guess I should use this blog thing, because I have exciting news.

Well... exciting for me.

Last week, I officially finished my first real zine, a perzine called The Universe and You: An Owner's Manual.

Everything is cut, collated, folded, stapled, covers painted... it feels so good. Handed out the first few copies already. Plan on handing more out this weekend at the NJ Zine Fest, trades and whatnot!

Not to mention a little tiny minizine on facial hair… Continue

Haha! New Brunswick = New Jersey zine central. Hey, do you ever go to Espresso Joe's in Keyport? It's kind of a zine-y looking place.

Ren,
If you don't feel comfortable giving out your address, what you could do is just subscribe yourself for $10/8 issues and that way you wouldn't have to mess with "my terms". If you could mention my name to Filthy, it'd be nice, because I get a subscription extension that way.

Whatever way you want to do it. We'd be glad to have you.---James

Great! As long as you agree to the terms, you can just give me your physical address and I'll send it and $10 into Dr. Strauss (better know as "Filthy Pierre") and he'll sign you up and send you off your first issue with further details. Zac Candy, also on WMZ, has taken the offer too, so there'll be another "familiar face".---JND
