a place for zinesters - writers and readers
I will be tabling at the Chicago Zine Fest this year, which I am mightily looking forward to. I had a ton of fun attending the last two years, so I can only imagine that tabling at the darn thing will be even more exciting.
Just in time for the fest, a split I have done with my friend Carrie (of Brilliant Mistake and My Aim is True) will be available at both of our booths as well. So be sure to stop by, say hello, and trade zines!

Typing up the raw copy for my next zine, I was surprised to have over 7,000 words begging to be edited. Up until now my zines have been anywhere between 2,000 and 3,000 words, turning into a 24 to 40…Continue

I'm Nichole, a writer, designer, and UI developer who grew up in Northwest Indiana. Despite my computer tech-like background, I very much enjoy glue stick messes, ripping paper, and classic cut and paste zine styles. I write two perzines:
Pieces and A Visitor in Myself.
All my zines are available for purchase or trade. I actually prefer trades, but if you do not have a zine to trade, I am also willing to send zines in exchange for a handwritten letter, tea, handmade cards or postcards, stationery, buttons & pins, or other random but interesting ephemera.
A Visitor in Myself #2
Perzine 1/4 size : 30 pages
A continuing narrative about mental health, self-care, memory, and learning to love and appreciate life as it comes. Other stories include a bad drinking experience, friendships, and finding kinship through zines.
A Visitor in Myself #1
Perzine 1/4 size : 30 pages
A stream of consciousness zine that is reflective of my BPD traits and the gratitude I have for those who have stuck with me over the years.
Pieces #8.5 / The Flip Side
Perzine 1/4 size : 34 pages
This is a split zine I did with my mother for the 24-hour Zine Thing. Zines have been a way for me to communicate with her some difficult things about myself, and I wanted her to share this medium of expression with her. I was delighted when she accepted! This is a lighthearted zine filled with stories about the library, transient pets, a recipe, favorite numbers, quotes, and blackout poetry.
Pieces #8: On Twelve Years of Running
Perzine 1/4 size : 64 pages
Snapshots of the last twelve years in which I avoid therapy and medication for fear of stigma, start intermittent therapy, and finally--twelve years later--begin continual therapy and start medication . This zine is a narrative of the constant battle of wanting help but working hard to appear as normal.
Pieces #7: On Belief, Delusion & Love
Perzine 1/4 size : 86 pages
An account of a turbulent relationship and its psychological effects. Includes pieces on mental health, internal archetypes, elements of a M/s relationship, and questioning what was delusion, what was belief, and what was--in fact--reality.
Pieces #6.5 & My Aim is True 5
Perzine 1/4 size : 82 pages
This is a split with my friend Carrie and while we tell two very different stories about body issues, there are many underlying threads that are the same. Pieces covers a long-waged battle against acne. My Aim is True covers a struggle with weight. Both are about the need for self-acceptance, self-love, and the people who helped get us there.
Pieces #4: On Lucid Dreaming
Perzine 1/4 size : 56 pages
Information on lucid dreaming and techniques, with stories on how I'm lucid dreaming to conquer anxiety, importance of dreaming, my thoughts on OBEs, and other personal tidbits. Half of the zine is a dream journal of lucid dreaming experiences written in an effort to learn about myself and two internal archetypes.
