I have a similar view of burqas when it comes to authoritarian governments that impose it upon their citizens; it should be up to the individual how they express their religious values. But that same reasoning is why I don't support total burqa banning in other countries because it restricts someone's personal freedom in how they want to show their religion - while I do agree that there are men out there that mandate that their wives wear it, I would rather that they wear it in public and actually be able to go out rather than having those same men keep them inside because they are no longer allowed to wear it and thus are considered shameful. It restricts access in both ways.
