Kirsty Win posted a statusI did the first issue of On A Sugar High back in 2002 when I was in high school, the second issue will be coming out in another month or so. Issue Two is called 'Skipping Islands' and relates to two of the main islands of New Zealand, North Island (where my current home is in Auckland) and South Island (where I am originally from).
Talks about why I moved and moving itself, about contrasts and the familiar, about being away when tragedy is happening back home. And some other things not to theme.
Working on another zine project called Lit Bits which is a collaborative zine about books, reading and writing. Taking submissions for issue one now which I hope to have out in mid July.

Following on from part one and what events I attended as part of International Zine Month here in Auckland.
Hands On Poetry
I used to write various poems when I was a lot younger (even won a couple of contests at school with those poems) but haven't written any since then.
The Hands On Poetry was an event focusing on poetry zines and National Poetry Day. The launch of self-published poetry anthology Hands Like Mirrors was the…

This weekend is a rare beast - I actually have it off.
Tomorrow (Saturday) I will be taking part in the 24 Hour Zine Thing event that Tangleball in Auckland is hosting. From noon Saturday til noon Sunday I will be taking part in an event of concentrated creativity.
It is the first time I have done the 24 Hour Zine Challenge, I have done NaNoWriMo and the like before - a month of writing madness but I have never done a full on challenge in such a short space of time.
I am…

I used to stay up late, tapping away at my computer keyboard or reading a book when I should of turned the lights out hours ago.
Getting older I try to get to bed at a reasonable hour, especially if I am working the next morning. While I could stay up as late as I wanted to (being an adult does have its advantages) I find I have lost my night owl tendancies.
However when I am inspired, that is a whole other story. There have been instances where an idea has struck me…

Amanda Rose Thomas said… Hey there! found your page via the penpal group. If you're still looking for a penpal i'm interested! I've always wanted a penpal from a far away place. I am 23 from southern california. I'm shy and awkward :p I enjoy spirituality, reading, writing tangents, collaging in my art journal. I am a fashion design major but am taking the semester off to re-energize. I like sewing and being creative. I am a leo. I'm open-minded and not easily offended unless it has to do with cruelty and non-acceptance. I'm bad at introducing myself haha.
