One area where you can encounter strong pushback from zinesters is to suggest that a zine writer or publication aspire to be more than a quirky local happening affecting few people.

Jim Gibson of HAND JOB ZINE is the latest great zine writer to go up at the NEW POP LIT site. We're looking for more awesome stories which are readable and fun-- and maybe not a little punk. The idea is to shake establishment literature out of its stodgy doldrums.
Other terrific zine writers we've showcased include Jessie Lynn McMains (aka Jessica Disobedience) and Rey Harris.
