I have an email list and I send out an announcement when I have a new issue. I have a blurb on the back of my zine telling folks that if they liked Miranda, to send their email address and I'll add them to the list. Quite a few of them do.

I had never heard of zines when I got back from the Peace Corps in 1993. But my new boyfriend had been writing them since high school and had a whole shelf of them in his apartment. I read them. And I thought: I'm a writer. I could do this.

Non-Christian perspective: there are real Christians, of the Jim Wallis/Martin Luther King/Helen Prejean type, folks who actually get out there and live Jesus' words about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and loving your neighbor. They don't...

My zine is Miranda. First I thought I would name the protagonist of my novel Miranda, which has always been one of my favorite names. But I realized that I'm an essayist, not a novelist. Then I thought I'd name a daughter Miranda. But I had boys....

Another issue of Miranda, my zine about motherhood and other adventures, is hot off the copier. Here’s a preview of Number Nineteen: The Clothes Off Her Back - Vintage garments. So hip, right? Not when they’re maternity clothes. Your mother’s mat...

I publish Miranda, a zine about motherhood and other adventures (www.mirandazine.com). I've been doing Miranda since 1998.

Miranda chronicles my more adventurous past as well as the complexities of my current job, motherhood. The zine features tales of Peace Corps Morocco, honest essays about parenthood, stories of lost companions, book reviews, recipes, and the confessions of a mother who’d rather be reading.
