IZM Week 2 Update

Posted on July 17, 2013 at 9:51am 0 Comments

Ok so I'm a little behind on the updates.

July 7 - I didn't make any post cards or envelopes since I wasn't sure where I'd be sending anything.

July 8 - I made a little flyer for my zine. Well, I have a draft done. I need to redraw it now a little less sloppily and then scan it. The best part of this was that it inspired me to move my zine off of my regular blog and set up a new blog for zine and writing stuff,…

IZM 2013 Progress

Posted on July 8, 2013 at 7:43am 0 Comments

My housemates and I had friends over on July 4th for basically the entire day so I fell a day behind. It's OK though, I'm sure I'll catch up - I can tell you're worried.

*Re-read your favorite zines

I gave away my zine collection 4 years ago, and then again 2 years ago - although that second time I did keep a handful. So I selected from them and from others more recently acquired:

Barefoot and in the Kitchen #2 - When i first got this, I…

  2. You don’t need permission to make one
  3. You don’t have to get an editor’s approval to be published
  4. You can write a zine on a computer, a typewriter, with a paint brush, or hand write it, whatever you want.
  5. And do layout with a pair of scissors and a glue stick. No fancy software needed.
  6. Zines can be about whatever topic moves you.
  7. Zines are a labor of love.
  8. They’re about expressing something, not selling…

Hey John--Got your zine today! It's great. I like how you managed to fit how the disorder feels, the treatments that work for you, and other nifty info into a mini zine. Have you ever tried Dream Water? It's good for relaxation or sleep. When you said you like chamomile to manage your anxiety, it made me think you might appreciate Dream Water as well. I liked GADzooks a lot. If you ever want to trade again, let me know. :)
