My Zine and Me
i'm Jack, im 20 and i am from Southend but i live in Norwich at the moment, studying Law (urgh) at UEA. I recently started my own zine, trying to cover the Norwich hardcore scene (or lack of it) but extending to bands i like in general from all over the country and world.
It's called What Would Henry Rollins Do? (or WWHRD for short) and is A5, about 80 pages, mainly written by me, costs £1.50 and is a black and white photocopy zine. Most of it is typed and printed by me, so it's sort of a hybrid between a cut and paste type thing, and a word processed thing.
The main focus of the zine is interviewing bands i like and i think people should be listening to. I aim to have about five or so bands interviewed, and then the rest of the zine is made up of articles i have written, about music, or other stuff, and a few short live reviews, and a record roundup. I also had a recipe in there too, although i didn't write that, and my girlfriend writes some stuff as well.
I've only made one zine so far, but managed to sell all my copies of it (100) and i'm working on the next one at the moment. It'll probably end up that i make around 3/4 a year, as i have uni work to do sometimes too.
