against the flood: mental health zines

hi, i'm Hannah a.k.a. dumpstermouse, texas-based zinester.

i write the zine Against the Flood, which focuses on creative and radical ways to deal with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. i'm always looking for submissions of any kind to include in upcoming issues--experiences with mental health, essays, stories, poems, photographs, drawings, collages. i'd love to hear what you have to say!

i enjoy zines not only because they have made a radical change in my life, but because they are an amazing way for people to connect, share information and experiences, and support each other. i love the friendships that i've developed through zines, and i look forward to meeting even more awesome zinesters.

i love:
zines, collages, fiction, indiepop, journaling, sewing, poetry, writing letters, learning about mental health, cutting up old children's books, and becoming friends with YOU.

If people with flyers wanted to post them on here, people like myself could just print them off ourselves and drop them in when we mail out zines or give them away at fairs. That would save on postage and other things.

When I send out zines I almost always include little extras and flyers, 1/4 size and smaller, so if anyone would like to send me some flyers, I'll be happy to send you some of mine. I operate mostly within Etsy, so send me (ParadoxMoxie.etsy.com) ...

I am working on my little 'Mudpack' zine but because of my perfectionism I am spending SOOO long on it...I'll be lucky to get the thing done by the end of 2009! Hey ho. I am enjoying working on it anyway. I am going away on a holiday in three weeks to Dorset with my girlfriend. It's her birthday. There is lovely wildlife and scenery where we are going and I can't wait to get away for some quiet time y'know? To re-group, as they say. Well, take care and keep in touch.
