Emerald Arts Newcastle

I''ve recently opened my own Studio/Gallery in the heart of Newcastle (Australia). At Emerald Arts I sell artworks both by myself and other local artists, as well as handmade jewelry, creatures and educational art kits.

A section of Emerald Arts is devoted to zines, with a swap box, wall space for flyers and a coffee table and bookshelf for display. If you have a zine that you think might suit, mail a copy to Emerald Arts (see address below). Zines will be sold on consignment with payment for zines sold calculated and paid at the end of each month. Consignment rate is 50/50 (50 Emerald Arts/50 you).

Art zines and illustration preferred, but so long as your zine is child friendly (kids classes take place here) it will be considered.

New mini Zine: "The Sketchbook Adventures of Emmeline Stronach"

Posted on January 6, 2009 at 3:54pm 0 Comments

This is a mini zine that I created for the Mini Zine Folks group swap (09). It fits into a standard envelope, is black and white and 16 pages. Because it's shiny an new, I've put it in a foil embossed koi envelope I found at the asian grocery.

The zine features pages from my sketchbook drawn especially for the… Continue

Review for Book Art

From an Etsy buyer:

by Crowbelle

Interesting work. I lean towards the second issue: I like the smaller

size and the greater contrast of dark and light in the pictures - I think the greater contrast allows the viewer/reader more access to the book.

Lets see, one of my favorite

pictures is in the first book - the one where you wrote: When dealing with nature....

very strong image. I like Zines that have strength of vision - ones that reach

some truth… Continue

Book Art 2 is SO almost done

Posted on December 3, 2008 at 9:25pm 0 Comments

After learning that tomorrow I have to take tax stuff to Elizabeth at my Dad's office I decided that I would spend part of today making the second volume of Book Art even though I have a million other things I should be doing. I rationalised that I am opening a gallery/artspace soon and I need things to fill the shop section.

These are some… Continue

New zine out today "Creatures and Dreams" Volume two

Posted on December 1, 2008 at 3:45pm 0 Comments

Just finished issue two of my zine "Creatures and Dreams". It's a kidzine (if there is such a thing) and has lots of holiday activities, stories and drawings to keep one entertained. Technically it is for kids, but adults buy it too. One of my customers brought in her copy to show me last markets, she'd used watercolours, was lovely.

For the cover I ripped up all my old art magazines and made paper cranes from the images. The cranes are… Continue

Dancing

Posted on November 9, 2008 at 9:48pm 0 Comments

Most afternoons I put on my favourite music and have a dance. Today it was to the Ministry of Sound Annual 2006, such a classic album. I bought it for a ski trip to Beaver Creak USA, Nothing quite like double diamonds to a thumping beat, I highly recommend it for mogals. Personally, I don't see the appeal, powder is so much better.

Each to their own.

Ten (the boyfriend/bestie) figured out how to PDF-ify my Portfolio. My email address is emerald_arts@hotmail.com if you want… Continue

Hi Emma,

I'd love to send you some bags! I'll have to wait and see how many I am left with after Nowra and ma.

I'm actually planning on making my own bags from scratch (for durability and quality) with watercolour prints etc. I absolutely love the idea of "wearable art" and something that people look at without even realising it and not getting inundated with shit mass produced designs. So, in short, even though I might not have any of those designs left I will be making my own and they should be complete in a few months' time!

In the words of Tim underneath "you owe me a zine!!" - i'm still waiting!

Looking forward to seeing your work and stocking my own in your shop :o)
