New zine review column seeks advice!

Ok, so I think we all know the drill about ordering zines from reviews you read in say...Zine World or Maximum Rock and Roll. You read the review, find out how much it costs and order it. All the…Continue

New zine review column zines on a arts/literary magazine. LOOKING FOR REVIEW MATERIAL FROM ZINE PEOPLE, DISTROS!

I made some buddies with a group of folks who run an online literary/arts magazine and a print lit journal called Monarch. I'm writing a zine review column for them and I'm super excited about it…Continue

i don't have a cell phone but luckily the long haul has free long distance. i tried to call you tonite but i must've wrote the number down wrong. i'll try again

i staff the Long Haul on thursdays currently and it's a decent place for zine reading. The first and third thursday the radio station has a meeting at 7/730 pm. Probably the other time LH is booked is tuesday from  7-9with the anarchist study group.

i didn't call you right away but i did ask if it could maybe also happen in SF at Thrillhouse Records and w/out hearing any details Fred said yes. I know they plant to do construction this year and if you're looking for something else:

SF the old bookstore(i forgot their name) on 16/Valencia is now a collective on 24th st. Also Modern Times books is on 24th they sell zines and are really cool. Though they are barely making it

Needles and Pens is still on 16th st. a cool place and all about the zines

And why not try City Lights Books. The zine buyer Layla used to run MR&R so she may try to pull some solidarity for a punk zine author

There's a place like Long Haul on the cusp of West Oakland that WAS called the Holdout. They seem all about Decolonizing things these days which partially means challenging white people. That's the impression i get anyway-they have a decent location and had drawing power in the past.

Book Zoo,Rock Paper Scissors, Pegasus and Nabolom Bakery all come to mind for the East Bay as well. I'll give you a call sunday but things will be a little hectic(working on a show in the later afternoon)

I hope you're excited

Interesting discussion you prompted about "zinester." I'd love to publish commentary by you about it in an upcoming Zine World.
