‘Tabletop experiments’ will be devoted to creative, DIY science & art. It will include writing, as well as some practical information or activities - especially experiments. Although each issue will have a strong emphasis on science, It could also include related visual art & poetry. It will have contributions from artists as well as scientist. Each issue will be launched with an event demonstrating the ideas and activities suggested in the issue.

Tabletop Experiments -Volume 1 - Surface tension, pattern formation, chemical oscillators, electrochemical reactions & general blobbyness

This issue is made to accompany a live demonstration of the ‘BZ reaction’ (chemical oscillator), the temperamental Mercury Beating Heart (electro-chemical oscillator) ‘Hele-Shaw cells’, (squishy blobbyness) and the ‘Sonic ECD cell’ something devised specially for this event. All of these reactions are interconnected in some way, and although they occupy a very small space, they display a deep & profound complexity.
