Durable Goods Issue Thirty-Two...Gillian Prew and Michael Brownstein

Durable Goods

Durable Goods is a microzine I started in September of 2009 and it contains small poems and prose (approximately 65-130 words per writer) and photography. This zine challenges many writers to think big but in a small form and the results have been pleasing. All of the writers featured in DG are invited and carefully paired to make well rounded issues. These zines fit in your back pocket and I hope serve as a break from the daily grind. In 11 issues, Durable Goods has been distributed across the United States, Brazil, England, Wales, France, Canada, Germany, India and New Zealand. I have over 1,400 copies in circulation presently.

Durable Goods has had great help with this distro by joining forces with other small press publishers who use DG to add to their mailings and an extra treat for buying a book. The presses involved in this are Tainted Coffee Press (OH), Nibble (CA), Verve Bath Press, (PA) Kill Poet Press (CA), Propaganda Press/Alternating Current (MA), erbacce-press (UK) and Orange Alert Press (IL). This zine is also distributed by a few individuals in their local areas. Kristin Fouquet generously donates her time and effort assembling and distributing this little gems around New Orleans and John Dorsey distributes them at poetry readings in Toldeo, OH. Without the help of these great folks I'd be nowhere fast.

Each issue that I send out comes with a hand stamped card and letter to the person receiving the issue and whatever updates I might have going on at the time. I will send an issue or two by request and if you enjoy them, you can have your name added to the rotation list or purchase a year's subscription for $10. That will get you 22 issues a year. If you are on the rotation list then at random times you will just find an issue in your mailbox. The subscription covers postage only. I'm a single mom and doing my best to bring great poetry and microfiction to the world one envelope at a time. I would also be interested in trades. I would love to see what else is happening in the mini-zine world.
