Aijung Kim of Firefly Blind Press

I write and illustrate poem-zines and have started a perzine serial called "Minutiae." Some other zines in the works: a chapbook-length zine of poetry, a zine about my trip to New Mexico last year (what a magical adventure) and an educational zine about underwater creatures called "Fish Nerd."

I enjoy art, writing, bicycling, peanut butter, books on tape, gardening, cooking, reading, children's books, and most recently, learning about sea creatures.

Minutiae No. 2 in Progress

Here are some pages from the upcoming issue of Minutiae No. 2, which will be available at my Etsy shop. It's a collection of observations from my second month living in Richmond, Virginia. Hopefully this will be ready to go by the end of this month.

Hello!

Hello everyone,

I make zines! yay! You can find them at my Etsy shop: www.sprouthead.etsy.com. I am currently working on a new perzine called Minutiae No. 2 about my experiences in Richmond, Virginia. I moved here about 3 months ago. I don't lead a crazy life or anything, but it's just observations in drawing and writing about my day-to-day life. I also have plans on completing a zine about a trip to New Mexico that I took last July. It was such a magical adventure and I've been so worried abou… Continue

Glad to hear you got my zines! Thank you for your kind words! I hope your word prompt stories are coming along nicely as well; I would love to see them once they're complete. Looking forward to reading your zines! ♥

Hey! I'm glad you liked my zine. That makes me smile :) If you need any pointers or advice on crochet let me know. I can also recommend a book or website that can show you how to crochet if you need.

I think the next issue is going to be awesome, I have learned alot from this issue and think I have made quite a few improvments. I'll send you a copy as soon as I get done!

Thanks again for trading, I love your zines sooo much and I can't wait for more! xo Jen

Hey lady! You're welcome to post the reviews and link wherever you like. I guess I find out about zines in a lotta ways. I've been involved for seven or so years now, so I have a lot of pen pals and zinester friends that keep me updated on new projects. I buy a lot of zines from distros (my blog has a whole bunch of links on the right hand side - my favourites are Stranger Danger and Paper Trail), I search for zines on Etsy occasionally and I never turn down a trade. There are a few zine communities on Livejournal.com and they're good for keeping up to date with new projects and promoting your own as well. Also, I've recently found a few places in Montreal that carry zines, so that's pretty exciting! Make sure you go to the Richmond Zine Fest, too! I hope I've been of some help.

Wonderful! My sister writes really excellent zines. ;) I'm glad you enjoyed the split. I'm about to write a review of Minutiae #2 for my blog, so I'll link you to it when it's ready. I thought it was supercute and even better than the last one. Take care!

I meant to mention yesterday -- thanks especially for the tip about typing "transparent" into the color picker. I don't know if that's a fairly common option for color pickers but I never would've thought of it in a million years...
