Share 'Fundraising ideas?'

Any things that work or totally fail? - One thing learned from Richmond Zine Fest fundraising in 2008... NO yard sales on the hottest day of the year! We've had people ask us to host a zine networking event... but ummm... from my experience... isn't that what the zine fest is for? Any ideas on doing zinester mixers or anything of that nature?
