a place for zinesters - writers and readers
You can make zines out of anything but some people don't have all the materials to produce their ideas because the materials they have are irrelevant or just doesn't work with the design. Here you can trade your materials for stuff you actually need!

Comment by StrayCat on February 7, 2011 at 12:56pm Here's a recipe for homemade glue. & a variation. I haven't tried those recipes, though. I've used my Mom's rice paste & boiled flour paste "recipes," which are pretty similar. (Eyeballed, no measurements.) Paper to paper, it works. You just need a brush to apply the glue. (Or your fingers, if you wanna get dirty.)
I hope that helps anyone who needs glue in a pinch. (I know my most productive hours are between midnight & 4AM, when shops are closed.)

Maybe in addition to trading materials, we could start a glue and tape pledge drive a la PBS or NPR. Everyone pledges some stuff, and when someone is desperately poor and needs to zine or art in order to keep from losing their shit, we can all send them our pledges :)

I have some old calendars, a few issues of The Artist's Magazine which I have come to detest, a sheet or two of a Chinese newspaper, TONS of old sketchbooks I can tear pages out of...um...I'm sure I can find more as I clean out my house. I'm always in desperate need of glue sticks and scotch tape :)
