I think it's perfectly acceptable to solicit zines to start a new library. One thing that would help, though is if you specify the collection's focus, if there is one. (e.g. zines for teens, DIY zines, political zines, etc.)

A smart move, if the library has any money at all (and I feel strongly that public and academic libraries should pay for their zines), would be to offer to cover postage or send a pre-paid Priority Mail envelope.

Good luck!

Hey, my local librarian wants to start a zine collection, and I want to help her but don't know how. Is it zine-socially acceptable to start a thread saying 'wanna help stock the library by donating a zine'?

i founded a zine library in Hamilton Ontario, Canada i am currently looking for a new home for it locally, can any one help me brain storm where i could ask for space?
the previous space was a co-operative cafe, that has turned out to be not so co-operative and i have been getting the feeling that the zine library has been pushed aside. i know that a zine library in a community is very important and shouldn't be pushed to the wayside. so if any one has any ideas on what kind of business i could approach or maybe letting me know where the library you work with is housed, it would be very helpful!

I just got my MLIS. It was an amazing experience wrought with danger and papercuts. PAPER CUTS in this, the digital age, really? I would not kid you without citing a source.

I'm just a zinester who happens to be a library assistant. I think I'd love to have a zine library...

I'm going to the Infocamp next weekend in Seattle, but I'll only be there Friday-Sunday. Rats. I'll come for a special trip to see what y'all have done with your new space soon.

I wish I could go to the ZAPP reopening, but I'll be working. What will ZAPP's new hours be, so that I can come to see the new and improved space soon?
