Any Rural, Isolated Vegans Out There?

In September of 2009, I posted the following on Washington State vegan forum:

I'm one of the very few who posts there at all. I was hoping to make some contacts with vegans who lived nearby, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I just wondered if there's anybody in this group that did or does live in a sparsely populated rural agricultural conservativish area where it seems like they were the only vegan (or vegetarian).

Were you ever at any point surprised to find you weren't?

I sometimes want to escape this town I'm in, but gas prices and my income being what they are, that's something I can't indulge in too often.

Anybody in similar boat?
