there used to be a co-op place called The Basement which may well still be running, I'm sure they'll have zines. Also, I'm pretty sure they have at least one indie comic shop, but I don't know what it's called. Man I am seriously useless.

They had a zinefest last year so there are definitely places where you can go, i just don't know them!

My daughter is going to Manchester Metropolitan to an MSc in september. She's not into zines (I have tried) but she's said that she'll look out for zines for me. Does anyone know of any good places to get zines in Manchester? Thanks!

fluff fest looks cool stephanos - for everyone else, it's a czech music festival and they have a fanzine workshop. they say:

One of the pillars of the HC-punk scene has always been and always will be the existence of zines. For this reason, we have decided to set up a library as one of the non-music alternative activities for the duration of the festival. library and reading room with all the printed material coming out of the scene that we can get hold of from their writers.

So we are asking for all the people who do DIY zines and want to support this project to send at least 1 copy (2 is better) of your zine to present and widen the spread of DIY ideas among people at the fest. We are interested in new and old, and even nostalgic editions, in musical and purely political zines, so even the uninformed can find out as much about the HC-punk community and DIY as possible. All the material sent to us will be available for the 3 days of the festival in a specially designated festival library. We hope that through this more people will be able to get to know more about the ideas of the HC-punk movement and this will also be a good chance for zine writers to present their work. Thanks to all of you who support this project. Please contact me on tomas@fluffmusic.com.

For the zine librarians in London/UK:
56a infoshop in London is relaunching its zine library at the end of the month. There is a weekend of events to celebrate this: a gig on Saturday 25th July @ Grosvenor, 17 Sidney Road, Stockwell feat. zine distros & queer bands. Sunday 26th July @ 56a info shop, Crampton Street, Elephant & Castle, there will be discussions & workshops including one on self-published comix, and networking between zinesters & zine librarians. This is from 12pm on, and will follow a breakfast at 56a, and of course, browsing of the zine library!!!

Its a "stuff I like to make" zine, so it has four step by step instructions (eg ATCs). I cant draw (!) so my illustrations are photographs. Anyway, I made a special ATC for the cover, just printed it out and my printer ran out of both black and coloured ink at the same time! Can't get to the store until Sunday to get new ink, so cant tell how it prints
