Conference Update!

SO! Lots has happened since I created this group...

Here is a new plan for a conference: Let's all meet up at the Wayside Center for Popular Education in the Blue Ridge mountains. It is a beautiful location and specifically tailored for radical organizing. We could meet up some weekend in the fall and talk about zines.

A major part of the conference would be getting Lips people together and working on opening chapters at Virginia Tech and Mary Washington. But, depending on who is interested we could also have other broader workshops.

I just finished putting together a zine that was two years(!) in the making:

Nashville Transit is about riding public transit during the early months of my transition. I basically journal-ed my experiences with street harassment and then typed them out, with very little edits/commentary. I also talk about the importance of public space and who has power in public spaces. 1/2 size zine with cardstock cover, cut and paste style, mostly text. Please get at me if you'd like to trade or wholesale: nervous.nelly.records@gmail.com or http://nervousnelly.storenvy.com/products/638932-nashville-transit-...

Hey everyone. So due to lack of funds and some health issues, the lips bus will not happen. However, I hope everyone stays involved in this group, because I think it is a great way to regionally organize and help our fellow southeast zinez. I know that the idea of a conference has been bubbling up in Williamsburg again, so keep your ears/eyes open for updates. ALSO is anyone going to the DC zine fest this summer?

xoxo,

annie

PLEASE HELP! The deadline is running out for fundraising for The Lips Bus, a veggie bus dedicated to starting discussions about independent media and sexuality. If everyone in this group donated $10 or more, that would REALLY help us meet our deadline of the 17th when we can't fundraise online anymore! Please help support a fellow zinestress with big dreams:
