Graduating into a recession in societies where unemployment is frowned upon, adjusting from school into a shrivelling economy. I want a zine to collect our feelings, struggles, and copings with transitioning from student life into unemployment, or into unstable employment (i.e. being in and out of work, or on temping contracts). I’m interested in how this has affected people’s identity, mental health, physical health, friendships, lovers, families, location, financial stability, access to services, sense of community and belonging, as well as how these experiences relate to class, citizenship, colonization, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and dis/ability. Submissions can be personal stories, political opinions, advice, comics, poetry, artwork, or whatever else you can manage to get on paper. Submissions should be no longer than around 1000 words. Anonymous entries are welcome.
Submission deadline: 10 AUGUST 2010/ DEADLINE EXTENDED NOVEMBER 30
Send along your submissions, questions, and thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have materials that can’t be sent digitally, lemme know and we shall work something out via the lovely snail mail. Also, as are the restraints of my dismal budget, bare in mind the zine will be printed in black and white.
Pass this call out along to your friends and listservs!
