My new zine 'How To draw Like a Loon' is finally available. This one has been entirely made with a four colour ballpoint pen. Topics covered are;

ballpoint pens!

what are zines?

drawing excercises

and there's a totally hand draw classified ad section.

This was a long time in the making. It's only for sale to the UK this side of Christmas 'cos I've missed the 'rest of the world' mail deadline and after last years debarcle (when I listed and sold a new zine just before the holiday, and most of them got clogged up in the Christmas mail) I thought that was best. I'll relist for the rest of the world after Crimbo.

Check out my blog post for a lesson on why not to launch a new zine before Christmas (!) and links to my Etsy shop;

I ain't just saying it, but I do believe this is my best zine yet. You know when everthing just works together? Well, that's how I feel about 'Loon'.

Comment by The East Village Inky on December 8, 2011 at 8:42am

A computer fail has lead me to spend an inordinate amount of time chasing down lapsed subscribers to the East Village Inky on Facebook, and it's really gratifying to see so many of 'em coming back to the fold.

I started this sucker in 1998 when my daughter was barely one. Now she's 14, and her younger brother is 11, and the idea that they have gotten big seems to be a fruitful hook! Even though these days, the zine is much more about my exploits than theirs. In my mind, it was never a 'mom-zine' so much as a 'this is my life' zine.

Now I'm trying to get new readers by encouraging the pre-existing ones to lay holiday gift subscriptions on their friends. Hopefully, I won't get so caught up in the marketing frenzy that I fail to shut off the dang computer and bang out the new ish in a timely manner.

If you want to check out my holiday sales pitch as inspiration to make one of your own (and maybe even be persuaded to buy some of that snake oil yourself) it's viewable at: http://www.etsy.com/listing/87957057/east-village-inky-holiday-gift

here's the East Village Inky on my website:

I leave you with an image that should resonate with anyone who's ever depicted their loved ones in their zines (or been so depicted). I call it "What lies is she telling about me now?")

Hi-- I just reprinted Monstress 3. It's the Werewolf Issue and it's been out of print for a couple years now. It contains some short comics drawn by me, reviews of werewolf movies (up to 2004), crazy faux fan fiction and testimony from French werewolf trials. Also, letters that people actually sent to me in the mail way back when people did more of that!

You can see more, or get it, at my etsy shop:
