issue #4 of the radical feminist compilation zine hoax is underway and we need yer submissions! the topic will be feminism & hirstories and our formal submission date is august 31st, 2010 (but we are considering pushing it back).

here are some examples of what we are looking for: the “click” moment when you realized you do or don’t identify as a feminist; growing up with/without feminism in yer life; stories from childhood, inspirational people (in yer families, culture, literature, etc.); introduction to women/trans/people of color’s work & theories in high school/college/etc.; relationship to past feminist movements (first wave, second wave, third wave, riot grrrl, etc.); in-depth essays about feminists of the past; history of witches, the clitoris, scientific/religious/philosophical views of female sexuality; past feminist movements that might not be well known (in africa, south america, etc); looking back to compare the state of women now to the state of women in the past; what you foresee in the years to come; what your ideals are for the years to come; HIV/AIDS and the queer movement; the importance of preservation for queer/POC/trans/disabled groups; social constructions of sexuality, race, gender, etc.; what it means for you to be a survivor of sexual assault (even a story about yer assault); the history of yer hair (POC & having “natural” or chemically straightened hair / the decision to stop shaving body hair in relation to feminist politics); having an “alternative” family (gay parents, adopted, cared for by grandparents, living in foster care, etc.)

also, we really need artwork! individual drawings, paintings, collages, or comic excerpts are all desirable! if you need more time to come up with something, or will be unavailable to mail us something before then, e-mail us and we can work something out! hoaxzine (at) gmail (dot) com!

hey y'all! the 3rd issue of my perzine, you've got a friend in pennsylvania, was recently finished and is ready for trading! it is a 1/4 size zine about zombies (story about a dream // discussion on the game humans vs zombies & how to make it more female-inclusive), girl hate (being a perpetrator of girl hate // seeing girl hate in a young woman // the fluctuation of a relationship with a particular girl // a note on girl hate in general & reminiscing about it in a local punk scene), body hair (10 reasons why i don’t shave // telling off a dude about making fun of a female with a mustache // essays on four major areas of my body that i’ve wrestled with shaving (armpits, legs, face, & pubes) // discussing the divide between feminists and the decision to shave or not // a short reflection on seeing a female-bodied person with body hair for the first time), and a name change (discussing the decision to legally change my last name (trigger warning)).
48 pages, b&w, super text heavy. $2 US / $3 international, or trade! youvegotafriendinpa@gmail.com or contact me on here! :)

Hi everyone,
I have a whole load of copies of Fallopian Falafel (my fanzine) just lying around collecting dust, and I think it's a real shame.
I would love to trade them with whoever is interested or sell them to whoever would be willing to buy. I prefer trading because I love reading other people's zines, especially fellow grrrl zinesters.
Fallopian Falafel is based in Jerusalem but it targets all audiences around the world who are into the culture of fanzines/perzines, Riot Grrrl, feminism, female empowerment, DIY culture and more such deliciousness! You can find out more here: http://fallopianfalafel.blogspot.com.
The issues I have cover a wide range of topics from the feminist perspective:
- Religion
- Music
- Beauty/Body image
- Pop Culture
- Female Body
- Love
- Pregnancy/Abortion
- Virginity
- DIY
Readers have given the issues great reviews so far. All issues are chanting "read me!"
Please contact me at fallopian.falafel@gmail.com to find out more.
Thank you!
Hadass.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS : FIST FIGHT ZINE

fist fight is a zine about girls and every day fights, from physical confrontations at shows, to the fight for autonomy with medical professionals, or the fight against advertising to be body posi. it's about girl gangs, and strong/weird female friendships.

It's about feeling positive and strong. It's about being inspired by other women on days when we've been feeling overwhelmed or defeated.

we want your contributions! we're interested in your personal writing/essays/comics/art.

when you're submitting, think about: whether it fits the theme and feel of fist fight (if you think it does, you're probably right), whether you want to lay it out on the page or if you're happy for us to do that, and a title.

you should also send a short (like 50 words or less) blurby bio-y type thing. totally mention your own projects so people can find you.

if you want more info, want to check if what you you're making fits the theme, or need a postal address to send submissions (word or reasonable quality image files can be emailed) you can email rina.anxiety@gmail.com.
