Here. In My Head. #9, a feminist perzine from the UK, now for sale!
48 pages, 1/4 sized – £1.00

Inside, I write about technology, thealogy (goddess worship), common anti-feminist arguments, and being a graduate. There’s also some lists and similarly fluffy little things scattered throughout. Black and white, with a hand-coloured front cover.
Want to buy a copy from me? Just Paypal £1.00 to blatant_blitheAThotmail.co.uk, and I’ll send the zine out to you the next day, with no delivery charge. If you would like me to include one of my free minizines, Twt, just leave me a note when you send me the money and I’ll put it in for you. Don’t forget, you can read more about my zines on my zinewiki page - http://zinewiki.com/Catherine_Elms.

Saturation is a DIY art and music festival that occurs semi-annually in Riverside, CA. Saturation is a labor of love, and it’s successful because of the incredible talent in Riverside. We keep doing it because it’s fun, and because it’s vital to keep up the hard work on behalf of the bands, artists, and community that make Riverside uniquely creative and supportive.

Hi, Im a riot boy (used to be a riot grrrl ;) ) who writes a horror fanzine called Necronomicon, its upto issue 17 now. Its sort of a personal diary whilst watching horror films. Im a feminist so I review horror films in that view point also, as I detest horror review writers who fixate on female nudity and I do not tolerate horror films with cliche weak female characters.

Ive been writing zines for half of my life now! I grew up in and contributed and socialised in the riot grrrl scene and still love it.

Not Lonely #5

A6 (quarter) sized, 40 pages, pretty text-heavy

The latest issue of my perzine focuses on the history of my relationship with the internet (including my first experiences of using it in a small-town library, its role in facilitating my partner and I getting together & why I no longer use livejournal or facebook); and my diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (including a breakdown of its definition, my own experience of its symptoms and a reflection on its validity - or otherwise - as a diagnosis). There are also handwritten intro and outros, a "guess the lyrics" quiz and some yummy winter soup recipes (suitable for vegans). It's partly typewritten, partly handwritten and was made cut and paste style.

Please visit this post on my blog for information on how to get a copy.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: the topic of hoax #5 will be FEMINISM & COMMUNITY

potential ideas for material include, but are not limited to:

  • elitism (identity politics & border policing & hierarchies within communities)
  • cliques & exclusivities
  • success & personal stories
  • the environment (food politics & urban gardening & eco-feminism & women in farming/farm lands)
  • accessibility (language & locations (urban vs rural) & academia & pretention & childcare)
  • work/ production (economics & capitalism)
  • social movements (then vs now - legacy of the 60s)
  • assimilation vs liberation (when, if, and how to assimilate)
  • the self (self-care & where the self ends and community begins)
  • what makes a community (how does one feel included? & how do we include others & what it means to find a “home” (limits of family))
  • networking (action & teamwork & friendship)
  • “diversity” (do we need varieties of people in a community? & tolerance vs acceptance (cultural relativity)
  • space (physical/ emotional)
  • legislation (policy & community organizing)
  • love (hate & anger)

we also totally need lots of artwork (photos, collages, illustrations, drawings, paintings, comics, etc.)! particularly for background designs and things that compliment the written material.

we are still currently selling and mailing out issues of #4 (back issues are also available as well)! we apologize if you have yet to receive your copy - the semester has just ended and we are dealing with sari’s move back to pennsylvania for the next six weeks. because of this temporary separation, we are putting this call for submissions out now. also, taking into account the fact that sari has one semester left and we both don’t know where we will be next year, we are on a real deadline for #5 that we will need to stick to in order to print at an affordable price. please aim to submit yer amazing material by february 21st, 2011. if you are interested, please feel free to e-mail us your ideas for topics!

to reiterate, we are not inflexible with the submission date, but we are not in a position where we can continually push it back like we did with #4. the sooner you send us ideas and essays the better! looking forward to see yer work!

in solidarity,
rachel & sari

PLEASE HELP! The deadline is running out for fundraising for The Lips Bus, a veggie bus dedicated to starting discussions about independent media and sexuality. If everyone in this group donated $10 or more, that would REALLY help us meet our deadline of the 17th when we can't fundraise online anymore! Please help support a fellow zinestress with big dreams: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lipsbus/the-lips-bus
